Behind every iconic portrait is a story.

At Fotografiska, Mark Mann shared the stories behind some of his most memorable images—offering a closer look at the people, moments, and decisions that shaped his work.

In collaboration with Harlowe and Central Studios, the experience continued beyond the talk with an open Q&A and live portrait session, giving every attendee the opportunity to step in front of Mark’s camera.

More than a conversation about photography, it was an evening about connection, curiosity, and returning to the essence of creation.

Create with Harlowe.

Thoughtfully designed. Beautifully refined. Built to give creators more freedom to focus on the image, the story, and the light.

We’re not revealing everything just yet.

Stay close.

During his portrait photography class with Harlowe, Mark shared what matters most to his process: creating an environment built on trust and mutual respect, connecting with the person in front of his camera, and walking away having learned something about them.

The light needs to support that process.

Consistency. Quality. Control. And the freedom to shape it in different ways without taking attention away from the moment.

A look behind the scenes at the craft, connection, and light behind Mark Mann’s approach to portraiture.

More possibilities, built into the Max experience.

The Harlowe Max Spectra Series combines rich RGBCW color with the familiar design and same 99Wh battery system of the Max platform.

With operation as quiet as 22dB @ 1m, Max Spectra is made to become part of your creative process—not a distraction from it.

Add the all-new Magic Lens and transform color into texture, movement, and atmosphere, giving creators another way to shape the image before it ever reaches the camera.

Shape the light. Shape the mood. Create with Harlowe.

Powerful portraits don’t always require complicated lighting.

For this black-and-white portrait series, photographer Joseph M Ford focused on something more important than the setup itself: emotion.

Subtle expressions, controlled shadows, and carefully shaped highlights create a quiet, cinematic quality that allows each frame to feel intimate and intentional.

The entire series was created with a simple three-light setup:

• Harlowe Max 40W + Gobo
• Harlowe Max 40W + 3×4 Softbox + Grid
• Harlowe Pro 300W + 36” Softbox + Grid

Three lights. Minimal styling. Maximum attention on the subject.

Because sometimes the most compelling images come from removing distractions and allowing light to reveal the emotion already there.

What happens when you stop thinking about light as illumination—and start using it to shape the entire frame?

Photographer Chris Dickinson takes the new Harlowe Max 120 Spectra and Magic Lens into an existing interior, using color, direction, texture, and atmosphere to transform the space around his subject.

Rather than overpowering the environment, Chris works with what is already there. The Max 120 Spectra gives him the freedom to introduce color and shape the mood, while the Magic Lens creates another layer of control over how the light interacts with the scene.

The result is a series of portraits that feel cinematic without losing the character of the location.

Less friction between the idea and the image.
