I wasnā€™t trying to make something pretty here.

I wanted to catch what people usually miss.

Thereā€™s a split second where someone drops whatever theyā€™re holding up for the world, and itā€™s justā€¦ them. No posing, no forcing it. Just existing in whatever theyā€™re carrying.

Thatā€™s what this feels like to me.

Not sadness. Not even weakness. Just real. A little distant, a little heavy, but grounded at the same time.

Some photos donā€™t need explaining. You either feel it or you donā€™t.

Took a few photos of Rowan and his momma today. He did such a good job. We wrapped up a little early though because the snow was definitely not his thing today.

Here is an update on Rowan! His mother wrote, ā€œYou may remember Prince Rowan SageMoon from our autumn photos with Michelle! He loves taking pictures, but he hates cold wet toes. He is now 1 & 1/2 years old and doing well! He gets his kidneys checked every couple months, and his most recent blood work has shown some improvement with mostly diet modifications and becoming an adult, which is a relief! They will never be normal, but at least they are at a new low starting point. He's still a spunky youngster who loves to get into trouble when opportunity arises, but is of course a bonafide very good boy! And he is so loved ā¤ļøšŸ¾ā€

So glad I could be apart of this. ā™„ļø

What most people donā€™t see is the fight her body is in every day.

Chronic illness doesnā€™t always look like a hospital bed. Sometimes it looks like someone standing right in front of you, smiling, existing, trying to live normally while their body is doing everything it can to keep going.

Strength isnā€™t loud most of the time.
Sometimes itā€™s just surviving another day.

Spring is only 7 Saturdays away.. wild, right? Iā€™ve been thinking a lot about how much I love capturing people in that fresh, golden light again soon.

With how crazy prices have gotten lately, I want to make my photography space feel budget-friendly and real. Everyone deserves to have moments captured not just those who can afford it. So Iā€™ll be offering a few free shoots this season for people who could use them.

Sometimes we donā€™t have extra money for the things that make us feel good, like photos that remind us who we are. Thatā€™s what I want to give back this spring. šŸŒæšŸ“ø

Most people think Christmas cacti come from deserts, but theyā€™re actually tropical, they grow on trees and rocks in the rainforests of Brazil. They donā€™t root in soil like normal plants. Their roots grab onto bark and absorb moisture from the air. So when you water them like a regular houseplant, youā€™re kinda going against their natural rhythm. Theyā€™re more like jungle drifters than cacti.
