Wow, what a year 2025 has been! I had the honor of welcoming all these babies into the world while also chasing around my own two littles. I met so many amazing families this year, they were so strong in the face of some unique and unexpected obstacles. Many of these births rocked me to my core and were a reminder that birth is so unpredictable. You honestly wouldn’t believe some of these birth stories!! I am so insanely proud of these parents and how well they have stepped into their new roles (as fresh parents and especially those with multiples). This year alone, over half my families were military! Most faced deployments during pregnancy, birth or immediately postpartum. Motherhood is no easy task, especially when your partner is half way across the world so I would do a million rounds of applause for them.

For myself, this year has been one of heartache, reflection, soul searching, and so much prayer on next steps. My deep desire to serve my doula families well has led to gaps being opened within my own family. As many of us know, we can’t pour from an empty cup. It’s time I practice what I preach and truly unplug and focus on my sweet little family. I have decided to take a step back from doula work and on-call life for now. This decision was certainly not made lightly as I have enjoyed the last 3 and a half years of serving Hampton Roads. I truly believe birth work is a passion and gift given straight from the Lord and my wonderful husband has been nothing short of supportive which makes this even harder. I am excited to lean into my role as “just” a mom for the time being. I will be back to serving families, I’m just not sure when or how yet! Thank you all so much for your unwavering support!

A fast 4th of July surprise gender birth! This mama roared her second little boy into the world minutes after I arrived and right before the midwives walked in!

Witnessing families experience homebirth for the first time is one of my favorite things. Staying home where you feel safe and secure, introducing siblings to the newest addition where they are most comfortable, surrounded by family and everyone comes to you, it’s simply the best!! As always, I am extremely honored these families choose to have me support them through pregnancy and birth while allowing me the opportunity to capture their love grow! 🫶🏽💕

Tender snuggles and soft whispers🤍

Entering this sacred space just hours postpartum is always an honor. To capture these first moments within the new family dynamic. Filled with so much love and awe for the precious baby you’ve just created, supportive texts and calls flowing in, pauses to nourish mom and baby, and conversations around the birth experience create the most intimate space. Being able to look back at those images for lifetime will always be worth it.

I am very rarely in front of the camera especially at a birth. I’m either the one holding it or am doula-ing my little heart out, but every once in a while I try to remember to take a pic of myself doing what I love! 🫶🏽

You may not see much of me in the second pic but multitasking is a specialty!! Helping mom advocate to use the squat bar for pushing even with an epidural, making sure she stays hydrated and snapping the pic all while dad lovingly supports as well! 💕

This birth was 2 years ago and I still think about it all the time!!! Such a beautiful birth, a strong mother, and amazing support!!! Happy Birthday sweet girl!!
