New England fall is here! The colors of the leaves are truly magical against the white Colonial-style churches. Combining the environment with architecture that screams the context of a place embodies the spirit of a place. 🍁

Rossio Square in Lisbon, Portugal, is a lively, atmospheric place where people gather to enjoy the architecture, cafĂ©s, markets, and fountains. The cobblestone is in a wave pattern, which makes it a unique design that has spread around Lisbon. When you are in the Square, you truly feel like you’re in the city's center, a vibrant place. More cities should remember the importance of the third place so people have somewhere to come together. Making it a beautiful environment attracts people, too!

Public parks that provide beauty and offer people places to enjoy in all seasons are essential to a healthy, thriving community. Private spaces that have been turned into public spaces bring people together. There are many benefits to providing activities, programming, events, and leisure spaces in public parks like this example in Lynch Park Rose Garden near the coast. It has become an iconic place in Beverly and somewhere visitors and residents take pride in. Thank you for making Beverly more beautiful for all!

Wandering around Washington D.C. and admiring all the beautiful and varied styles of architecture brings such joy! It is an International blend of the French architect and urban planner Pierre Charles L'Enfant's mark from his designs for the city. D.C. is a walkable city with large green spaces on the National Mall between grand memorials, monuments, and museums. The Neoclassical government buildings and quaint neighborhoods surround these important historical and modern sites. Since the city has height limitations, no skyscrapers create unique architectural buildings and a human-scale environment. What is your favorite important structure in D.C.?

So honored to have my first poem published by the International Women’s Writing Guild! After going through a submission and panel review, my photo poetry was chosen for the current Network publication! During this past year, poetry has become a passion and hobby of mine. I often like to take a photograph that inspires me alongside it. It is a meditative process that connects me to myself and something greater. I usually write poetry about my favorite places in the actual place. I have a blog feature about “poetry of place.” I encourage others to try it and take in their surroundings and write about it. As I write a book that will include more poetry, I look forward to sharing more on ! Where is your favorite place to write poems?

Halloween is over for the season, and back to being able to wander around Salem! Chestnut Street District is a beautiful, tree-lined street with architecturally significant 19th-century homes. This district is a National Register of Historic Places. It is worth a visit to walk the cobblestone sidewalks with the Federal style grand homes surrounding it. When visiting a touristy and historical place, it’s helpful talking to the locals and get off the beaten path. A local business owner told me to visit this charming street, and it was nice to get away from the crowds and take in the beauty! What’s your favorite local place to visit? Follow for kore travel tips to getting to know places.

I was taking it all in under the tree today with the sea breeze on this hot day. Public spaces, greenery, and parks are so important for a community. A place for refuge, to meet friends, exercise, walk the dog, and clear the head. I have been writing under this tree as I develop my memoir. I am getting very excited about the writing process. What place inspires you? Follow as I continue on this journey.

Are there buildings that represent so much more to you? Lighthouses are that for me! When times are dark, lighthouses show us the way. In stormy times, they are the beacon of hope. During this time, I will use this lighthouse to continue my path of purpose to make places better for all. Follow to go on this journey together to show the benefits of beautifully built.
