I was at my daughter's apartment today when I got an alert on my phone. Dolly Parton had passed away. It wasn't a huge shock as there have been rumors swirling about her health, but it's an astronomical loss to the human race.
Dolly to me wasn't just a musician, in fact to me it was the least interesting thing about her. (not dissing her music) To me, Dolly was a shining example of positivity and light in a world that is really lacking in that area. She helped kids in need with books. When wildfires devastated the Smoky Mountains, she was right there helping in the background. Much of what she did was behind the scenes to not draw attention to herself. When she did use her image, it was to draw attention to help others and to spread love and not hate. She tried to use her image as a celebrity to spread positivity rather than harvest hate. That is what we have lost today. Someone with that abundance of being a positive light. It's a sad day. It's up to us to try to be a little more positive, and add a little more light to this world so her loss doesn't cast quite so big of a shadow.
