A crowd gathered outside the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Government Center for an impromptu community forum. Charlotte Mayor Vi Lyles then marched with protesters before taking questions about use of force by Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police during a protest the night before.

During the demonstration, protesters chanted "Where's the chief!" CMPD Chief Kerr Putney later arrived to also take questions about his officers' use of force, including the throwing of tear gas at protesters. However, many protesters felt neither the mayor or the chief fully answered their questions.

During the forum, City Councilman, Braxton Winston passed around a megaphone to protesters who wanted to question the mayor and speak before the crowd. Protesters came forward, expressing their frustrations with systemic racism and calling on city leaders to make changes as well as hold officers accountable when using excessive force.
