As both a parent and small business owner, I love supporting programs that make a real difference in our community — and RAC (Rowan Aquatic Club) is one of them.

We've been a RAC family for years, and I can’t recommend it enough for any family with kids who love the water and are ready to grow through sport.

Most kids recognize names like Patrick Mahomes, Shohei Ohtani, or Lionel Messi — standout athletes in football, baseball, and soccer. But swimmers have their heroes too: Katie Ledecky, Caeleb Dressel, and of course, Michael Phelps — athletes who prove that swimming builds strength, focus, and lasting character.

Swimming may not come with stadium lights, but it is a lifelong sport where kids gain discipline, confidence, and strong friendships. And RAC is a safe, welcoming space where every child can find encouragement, belonging, and room to grow — no matter their skill level.

Tryouts are no-pressure, one-on-one sessions at the JF Hurley YMCA in Salisbury, with spots still available:

Tues 8/12 & 8/19 (4–6 PM)
