Are your headshots making you money...or leaving opportunities on the table?

Here's something I see all the time.

An attorney invests in professional photography...

Updates her LinkedIn profile...

And never uses those images again.

That's a missed opportunity.

Your professional imagery should be one of the hardest-working assets in your marketing strategy. It should be reinforcing your credibility and leadership long after your session is over.

Think about it...

Every time you're invited to speak on a panel, contribute to an article, appear on a podcast, receive an award, or join a board, what's one of the first things they ask for?

Your bio and your headshot.

Your image is often your first introduction before you've ever shaken someone's hand.

So why limit it to one profile picture?

Here are a few places your professional images should be working for you:

✓ LinkedIn profile & banner
✓ Your law firm website
✓ Speaker and conference bios
✓ Podcast guest features
✓ Media and press opportunities
✓ Bar association profiles
✓ Email newsletters
✓ Social media content
✓ Award submissions
✓ Firm announcements

Your headshots aren't just photos.

They're a marketing asset.

The more strategically you use them, the greater the return on your investment.

You are more photogenic than you think. Give me 5 seconds to prove it.

One of the biggest misconceptions I hear from women is, "I'm just not photogenic."

I don't believe that's true.

Being photogenic isn't something you're born with. It's the result of expert lighting, thoughtful styling, and....most importantly POSING.

Models know how to move in front of a camera because they've been trained.

As an attorney, your job isn't to know how to pose. It's mine.

With 17 years behind the camera as a fashion photographer, I know that the smallest adjustments can completely transform an image. Sitting a little farther forward. Lengthening through your spine. A subtle lean forward. Relaxing your hands. Turning your shoulders just a few degrees.

Those tiny movements create confidence.

This is a glimpse into how I coach every client through one of my signature seated poses.

Because great portraits aren't about luck.

They're about having someone who knows exactly how to bring out the leader you already are.

"I'm just not photogenic."- Every woman ever

If I had a dollar for every time I've heard those words from a successful woman attorney, I'd have a very different business.

The truth is, I don't believe you're not photogenic.

I believe you've simply never been given the right experience.

For most women in law, professional photography has looked something like this:

You're pulled away from your desk. Given five minutes in front of a backdrop. Told turn left, turn right, smile. The classic "mugshot" style of photography.

Then you're handed one lack-luster photo and then expected to use it everywhere; that's a problem.

Especially for women in the industry and influential women leaders.

Being photogenic isn't a personality trait.

Rather it's the result of thoughtful lighting, intentional posing, expert styling, posing direction, and a photographer who knows how to bring out your confidence.

After all, your full-time job is practicing law; not knowing how to pose for the camera like a model.

And here's something else I believe: One headshot is not a branding strategy.

Today's attorneys are showing up on LinkedIn, firm websites, speaking engagements, podcasts, media features, newsletters, and countless other places. Your imagery should support every one of those opportunities.

Your professional image isn't just about "looking good".

It's about reinforcing your credibility, your leadership, and the reputation you've worked so hard to build.

That's exactly why I created my Signature Sessions.

A completely guided, done-for-you experience designed specifically for busy, high-achieving women in law; so you can stop worrying about being photogenic and start showing up with confidence online with imagery that matches your level of success.

I'm excited to announce that registration is NOW OPEN for our Semi-Annual Signature Session Event this November at our Fort Lauderdale studio.

This event always sells out and we are only able accommodate 10 new clients for this event. Text Amanda at the studio today to learn more and see if this experience is the solution you've been looking for, 717-723-8404.

This is not about vanity.

This experience is about confidence.

Walking out of my studio seeing yourself the way everyone else already does.

Having beautiful, elevated, authentic images of yourself is now a powerful tool. This is a strategy in your marketing.

This public perception tool, can help to amplify your voice, impact, and message. How? By visually matching the success and respect you’ve already earned.

It’s normal to feel awkward in-front of the camera. Ever think “what do I do with my hands?”….

It’s not your job to know how to pose for the camera. That’s my job.

All this to share, our next & FINAL South Florida photoshoot event is coming to the Fort Lauderdale this November 3-8.

Doors are now open and our November Signature Sessions always sell out.

Text/ call the studio today to reserve your spot 717-723-8404.

"What do I do with my hands?"- Said everyone infront of the camera

If you're an attorney, that's exactly what I expect you to say.

Because it's NOT your job to know how to pose or "model".

It's mine.

One simple pose in a chair can transform into multiple images simply by making subtle adjustments to posture, shoulder position, chin angle, and even the placement of a single finger.

It may seem like a small detail, but it's not.

Our eyes naturally look at a person's face first and then their HANDS. Tension in your fingers, wrists, or shoulders can subconsciously communicate discomfort before someone ever reads a word about you.

That's why I'm constantly coaching my clients throughout the session, making tiny adjustments that create a more confident, approachable, and natural-looking portrait.

This isn't about being "photogenic" or vanity.

It's about creating imagery that supports your reputation and helps you make a strong first impression as part of your career strategy.

Your imagery matters.
Your online presence has become an extension of your reputation.

Professional photography isn't about getting a better headshot. It's about building a library of strategic images that reinforce your credibility, leadership, and expertise everywhere your audience encounters you.

Your headshots can be used to help you elevate your career and act as a strategic tool to help reinforce your role as an industry leader.

Because every article, every speaking engagement, every media feature, and every LinkedIn post deserves imagery that reflects the caliber of the attorney behind it.

If you've ever thought...

"I hate being photographed."

"I never like the way I look in pictures."

"I don't have time to create content."

You're not alone.

Those are exactly the reasons I created my Signature Sessions and hundreds of women in law entrust my team and I with the importance of their image.

This is a completely guided, done-for-you experience designed specifically for busy, high-achieving women in law, so you can confidently show up online without ever wondering what to wear, how to pose, or where to begin.

South Florida, Registration Is Officially Open!

I’m excited to share that Michelle Citrin Studios is an official sponsor of this week’s Annual Meeting of the North Carolina Bar Association.

This is a special milestone for me because it’s my very first event with the NC Bar Association.

Over the past year, since relocating to Charlotte NC, I’ve had the privilege of connecting with so many incredible attorneys across North Carolina. Many of those relationships have started online, so I’m especially looking forward to finally meeting many of you in person.

Will you be attending?

If so, please stop by our booth and introduce yourself. I’d love to connect, learn more about your practice, and put a face to the names I’ve been seeing throughout the year.

And as a little thank you, we’ll be giving away a Coach handbag to one lucky attendee who stops by to enter.

Who’s going to be there? Let me know in the comments so I can be sure to say hello.
