Exciting photo project news: I'm seeking portrait volunteers for "Young, Gifted and Black." I'll be partnering with the Salisbury Rowan NAACP on this project, which is wonderful.
Participants must be African American, be between the ages of 18 and 34, and have a connection to Rowan County, NC, such as living, attending school, working, or being born in Rowan County.
We are all gifted in different ways, in fields and specialties far and wide. To be considered, please email your interest and why you think you’re a good fit for this project by completing this link:

There is no cost to participate. Each person will receive a print of the final portrait. I will include a quote from each person to pair with the portrait.
The inspiration comes from the Nina Simone song “To Be Young, Gifted & Black.” She was inspired by the autobiography of Lorraine Hansberry, which was also titled the same. Hansberry was the first Black woman to have a play produced on Broadway, “A Raisin in the Sun.”
