It's May 14th, Happy Hmong American Day.

Today feels like the right time to share something close to my heart.

“Memories of the Mekong” is a project I’ve been holding onto for a while—because it carries a story that isn’t just history, but it’s personal to me and every Hmong American child.

For many Hmong families, the Mekong River wasn’t just water—it was a decision, a risk, a final chance. After the Vietnam War, our people fled through the jungles of Laos, running for days, carrying what little they had, hoping to survive. And when they reached the river, everything came down to crossing the river.

This project is my way of honoring this journey, the journey our parents and grandparents went through, and the strength it took to keep going. It’s a reminder that the life we live now came from these moments—moments of fear, courage, and hope. That they persevered.

So today, I remember.
And I create in hopes these stories are never forgotten.

A lot has happened this year. Big expensive projects, lots of engagements, not enough photos. Was able to participate in the Tet new year again and thats always a privilege.

This year I had the most expensive and complex project. Probably wouldn't have happened if the models and helpers didn't believe in me trying this underwater experiment. Did you know hmong cloths is very buoyant? Will I attempt this again YES!!! But definitely with a new approach.

I do wish I'd taken more photos but I spent 3 months grinding to get a more flexible schedule. So praying for 2026 to be kind with my photography.

Congratulations to all the wonderful ladies who competed in the HSP beauty pageant. It takes so much courage to walk out on that stage in front of hundreds. Keep striving, stay proud, keep your head held high, and lead as an example.

Some photos from 2024 Hmong NC New Years. Lots of Love and friendship this year. There maybe a little inconsistency in the photos just because the sun was so hard to work with this year.
