Finally got to visit The Independent Bistro for Arts & Culture in Albemarle, NC for the first time, and I’m officially obsessed with this cute little place! 🥹✨

The cutest vibe ever! Cozy, warm, creative, & full of little things to discover. There’s a small artist exhibit, pastries & bakery goodies, lattes, a little lunch menu, and an atmosphere that made me want to slow down and stay awhile.

I grabbed a hummus plate and a French latte, and of course, I couldn’t leave without buying a copy of The Artist’s Way book. 🎨📖☕️

I’m so thankful to have a place like this not far from home. It feels like the perfect spot to bring your laptop and get some work done, sit and read, meet a friend, enjoy a little brunch with family, or simply take yourself out for a cozy afternoon.

So grateful for little local places like this. What a vibe!

Some random pictures from my past week in recognition of me turning 41… but also some words that have been themes in my life up until this point on my time line.

Also, I found this sign laying outside a restaurant in Charlotte this past weekend. I thought it was kind of strange just lying in the parking lot. I walked over to it and it said, “Wake up & be awesome.” At first glance I thought it was referring to the morning…but then I walked back over & took another look. I wasn’t asking the universe to give me a sign…but it did. And I smiled…🥹

In my book Sacred Shift, that I wrote and released this past spring, there is a chapter in there called “Awake” (34). It kind of touches on a couple different things…like waking up after grief & loss. The awake-ness of going through a sacred shift in your life, and also the subtle awakening of a heart opening up to life and love through a journey we may have found ourselves in…but were not expecting.

I feel like that little wooden sign was a sweet little reminder to me….to keep waking up to my life.

To feel.
To stay open to the unexpected beauty
that can come after the hardest seasons.

What a gift it is to wake up to:
•radical acceptance
•choosing awareness
•staying curious
•trusting yourself
•gentle strength
•keep showing up

This is 41 for me. 🤲✨
