The amount of times I hear “wait… that’s actually me?” during empowerment sessions will never get old. 🖤

I think a lot of women assume they need to feel completely confident before booking a session like this, but that’s rarely the case. Most of my clients come in a little nervous, a little unsure, and leave seeing themselves a little differently than they did before.

And honestly? Seeing women see themselves differently through my camera is one of the coolest things I get to witness during these sessions. The confidence shift is REAL.

I don’t think people realize how disorienting homecomings actually are. Hundreds of people, everyone looking around at once, sailors all dressed the same. And somehow they still find the exact person they were looking for almost immediately. ⚓️

That’s honestly one of my favorite things about photographing these moments for my clients. No posing, no directing. Just people zeroing in on the one person they’ve been waiting months to hold again.

One of my favorite parts of military homecomings is taking in all the reunions happening around me. 🤍

Every direction you look, somebody’s finally hugging their person again. Kids tackling their parent before they can even set their bags down, tears the second eye contact is made, families holding onto each other like they’re trying to make up for lost time.

It’s impossible not to feel something watching it happen. ⚓️🇺🇸

Memorial Day always carries a heaviness to it. A reminder of the cost behind the uniforms, the families who never got their homecoming, and the people who carry that loss forever. 🇺🇸

There’s something really special about documenting families in this season of life. the gummy smiles, the tiny hands, the way babies look at their parents like they hung the moon. It’s never really about perfect posing for me. It’s about preserving what this chapter actually felt like before it changes again. 🤍

Spent the other morning photographing the VAW-124 fly in and ended up capturing so many sweet reunion moments 🥹

One of my favorite things about homecomings is how every family reacts differently. Some people sprint, some cry immediately, some just stand there smiling at each other for a second like their brain hasn’t caught up yet.

Honestly my job is less “perfect posing” and more giving people space to relax long enough for their actual relationship to show up. That’s always when the photos start feeling real instead of just pretty.
