Your website is often your first introduction. Does it feel like you?

For Anne Jillian Design, an interior design business serving Paradise Valley and Scottsdale, I created branding photography and designed her new website to work together.

This session captured the person behind the business, from portraits on a project site to hands-on moments reviewing materials. The result is a collection of personal, purposeful images created specifically for her website and marketing.

Shalista Photography offers branding photography and website design for business owners in Scottsdale, Paradise Valley, Chandler, and the Phoenix area.

Ready for photos and a website that reflect where your business is today? Get in touch to plan your project.

A red dress, desert sunshine, and someone who looks at you like this. That’ll do. ❤️

Couples photos don’t need to feel like a performance. A little wandering, a little laughing, and plenty of time to just be yourselves. I’ll take care of the rest.

Ready for photos of the two of you that aren’t selfies? Send me a message and let’s plan your session.

Here is something easy to forget. Your headshot is meeting people before you ever do.

Think about how often it shows up. Your website, your LinkedIn, your email signature, the program for that event, the little profile circle next to your name. Long before a potential client shakes your hand, they have already formed a first impression from that one photo. It is quietly working for you all day, every day.

So it is worth asking, does your current headshot still feel like you? Not a stiff, overly posed version, and not a cropped picture from a few years and a few life changes ago. I mean the warm, capable, real you that your clients actually get to work with.

A strong headshot is not about looking perfect. It is about looking like someone people want to trust and reach out to. That is the whole goal, and it makes a real difference for professionals and small business owners.

One simple tip if you are thinking about booking. Wear solid colors you feel confident in and keep the patterns minimal. When the outfit stays simple, your face and your personality get to be the focus, which is exactly what we want.

If it has been a while, let us fix that together. I photograph professionals, business owners, and families all over Gilbert, Mesa, and Phoenix, and I promise to make the whole thing relaxed and even a little fun. Send me a message or click to book and we will get you a headshot that finally feels like the real you.

When a mid afternoon snack run turns into the best pizza in Mesa.
Stopped into Il Forno Bello on McKellips around 3:30 for a little something to hold us over and ended up demolishing the Il Lacho. Wood fired, light crust, fresh ingredients, the kind of pizza that makes you wonder why you ever settled for delivery. We got seated right away, but by the time we left there was a wait at the door and every table was full. Take that as your sign.
If you live in Mesa, Gilbert, Chandler, or Tempe and you have been hunting for a wood fired pizza place worth the drive, put this one on the list. Closed Sundays so plan accordingly.
Have you been yet? Tell me what you ordered.

The Wave in Arizona delivered yesterday. We hiked in, brought a flowing fly dress, and walked out with images I’ll be thinking about for years.

For anyone searching for The Wave, it sits inside Coyote Buttes North on the Arizona Utah border and only 64 people receive a permit per day. The hike is no joke, the heat is real, and there’s no marked trail. But when you round that final bend and the sandstone opens up into those impossible swirling curves of red, orange, and cream, you understand why photographers chase this location for a lifetime.

The fly dress was made for a place like this. Every gust of desert wind turned the fabric into another sculpture against the rock, and the late afternoon light wrapped everything in that golden Arizona glow only this state delivers. I’ve photographed in Arizona for over 20 years and this session sits near the top of the list.

If you’re looking for an Arizona photographer who specializes in adventure shoots, fly dress sessions, desert portraits, and bucket list locations like The Wave, Antelope Canyon, Horseshoe Bend, Sedona, and the Grand Canyon, send me a message. These shoots take planning, permits, and a photographer who knows how to move with you in the elements. Let’s create something unforgettable.

Somewhere around 45 there is this weird thing that happens where you just kinda disappear. You walk into a room, nobody really sees you. Your husband steps around you like you are furniture. The cashier calls you ma'am. And everyone acts like this is just how it goes.

Here is what nobody tells you. You do not have to fade. You spent twenty years making everybody else feel seen. It is absolutely your turn.
That is literally what I do. I photograph women in their 40s, 50s, and 60s. I point the camera at them and I go, there you are. And they cry. Every single time.

If you are tired of being invisible, you do not need a giveaway. You need an afternoon. DM me the word VISIBLE.

Part 2 because the desert light deserved its own post.

South Mountain Park Preserve before sunrise is a completely different world. Quiet and golden and honestly a little magical. We were out there with the saguaros and the early morning glow and I just kept thinking how lucky I am that this is my job.

Somer and Kaedon you two were made for this light. 🤍

She came all the way from Galena, Illinois and we made magic in Phoenix.

Meet Tamara Ambroz – herbalist, psychic medium, and the owner of The Enchanted Herb Shop. When she reached out for content creation during her Phoenix visit, I knew this shoot was going to be something special.
As a content creator, these are the sessions that remind me why I love this work. Tamara has a presence that is completely her own – rooted, mystical, and deeply authentic. My job was just to capture what was already there.

If you’re a healer, a shop owner, a spiritual entrepreneur, or a woman with a brand that doesn’t fit in a box – this is what your content can look like.

Visiting Phoenix? I shoot personal branding and content creation sessions for travelers too. DM me or grab the link in my bio.

PART 1 - Phoenix City Hall...

your daughter asks for a second round of engagement photos, you absolutely do not say no. You set your alarm for before sunrise and you show up with your camera and your whole heart.

Somer and Kaedon wanted something different this time so we headed to South Mountain Park Preserve to catch the sunrise and then made our way over to Phoenix City Hall for a totally different feel. Two looks, one morning, and honestly one of my favorite sessions I have shot in a long time.

That sunrise light was absolutely unreal you guys. Warm and soft and golden and just... perfect. Arizona really did show up for them.

I may be slightly biased but they are just magic together and I cannot wait for their wedding next year. So proud of you Somer. 💍🤍
