One of my favorite things about wedding portraiture is that it can hold so many different emotions all at once.

There is always space for the timeless, editorial portraits. The beautifully composed images that feel refined, intentional, and iconic. Those photographs matter deeply, and they should.

But somewhere in between those moments, there is often another kind of image waiting to unfold.

The in-between.
The exhale.
The moments when you stop thinking about the camera entirely and simply settle into the experience of being together on your wedding day.

Those are often the photographs that end up carrying so much emotional weight years later.

The way someone instinctively pulls closer.
The softness of light through a veil.
The pause before a kiss.
The feeling of being fully present with each other in the middle of a day that moves incredibly quickly.

I think that’s why I’m so drawn to black and white imagery for moments like these. It has a way of quieting distraction and allowing emotion, texture, movement, and connection to take center stage.

To me, the most meaningful wedding galleries always make room for both. The refined editorial imagery that feels timeless and elevated, alongside the quieter emotional moments that feel deeply lived-in and personal to the two people experiencing them.

This series felt like such a beautiful balance of both.

There are certain weekends that feel effortlessly beautiful from beginning to end, and Kendall and Sahej’s celebration was one of them.

As I pack for Arizona and my final wedding of the season, I can’t help but pay a little homage to Colorado in the fall. 🍁

Here our leaves are golden, and the air is crisp (then warm again) This most perfect of seasons can feel a little fleeting. I’m grateful I got to celebrate and enjoy it with these two before the branches give up their leaves.

I’m feeling the itch to let autumn throw up all over our home 😂 I’m doing my best to resist the urge though considering the weather this week is going to be incredible here in CO. The change of the seasons always makes me so nostalgic. A bit sad about the time that’s already passed but eager for the fun things to come. The days are growing shorter and the mornings colder. One thing is for sure though, this warm summer glow will always have my heart.

When that glorious sunset glow dictates that you go a little moodier than you normally would, you do it. 😍 Maybe this will make me sound absolutely insane but if you’re a fellow photographer, do you ever feel like your photos speak to you? Like you get home from a session, pour yourself some tea, put on some good music, pull the photos up in Lightroom and the story is just there, waiting for you to bring it into the light.
