STELLIUM SERIES NO. 4 LEO // AVA 🦁 PT 2

If Part 1 was boho indie, this set is full messy Tumblr core—the second vein of “indie sleaze” that fully imprinted on my teenage brain. Jeffrey Campbell Litas, Skins UK, Arctic Monkeys & Ratatat, tights under shorts with a slouchy tee, sh*tty digital camera pix, Ke$ha throwing up in Paris Hilton’s closet…truly the best era, and it shaped my taste to this day. Effy Stonem was the blueprint, and I fully wanted to live inside a Skins UK plotline (yes, my mom was terrified lmao). Smudged eyeliner, tangled jewelry, and outfits that looked unhinged in the most nonchalant but try hard way. This look is my little love letter to the era that shaped me. ✨

For glam, I wanted hair that felt lived in—like it’s survived a b2b DJ set, a basement party, and the kind of after hours where you need to know someone who knows someone. A grungy, gunmetal smoky eye and an unapologetically bright red lip. No lip liner!! 🤣 The true spirit of indie sleaze.

The dress for this set already has a past life with me—I wore it in a previous shoot, but the moment I held it up for Ava, I knew it had finally found its real moment!! We layered it over her mesh leopard mini and paired it with her iconic rhinestone rockstar boots that honestly deserve their own fan club. 🤩 I stacked her in gold jewelry—mixed lengths, textures, and of course the long statement necklace, because I’m convinced it’s not an indie sleaze look without one lol.

And astrology wise…when someone has Sun, Mercury, and Saturn in Leo, there’s this magnetic warmth and strength they don’t have to perform—it’s just innate. Ava brought that Leo curiosity and passion, turning collaboration into play. The best kind of collab!! From the moment we started, it felt like working with a kindred spirit. I can’t wait to watch her absolutely flourish in her music journey and hype her every step of the way. 🔥🫶

STELLIUM SERIES NO. 4 LEO // AVA 🦁 PT 1

I swear this might be my Roman Empire.

I’ve had this “indie sleaze” concept scratching at my brain for YEARS!!! Peak 2006–2012 had two veins, and for this first set we’re starting with the boho indie—moccasin boots, MGMT & Passion Pit, the Olsen twins, flowy tunics with low rise jeans or a mini skirt, Miley smoking salvia (iconic lmao).

And if there’s one thing about a Leo—especially a Leo stellium with Mercury + the Sun?! They love to be adorned, and they liveeee to become the vessel for a vision. And Ava?? A true muse—the kind of girl who taps in instantly and elevates the moment just by being in it.

This look came together almost entirely from thrift finds! Like the feather skirt, the fur hat with ears was an immediate “yes, duh!” piece. I found so much while thrifting but kept circling back to this patterned mesh top and snakeskin skirt. The texture + pattern mix gives indie nostalgia but feels modern. In the 2010s it would’ve been tight skirt + flowy top—so naturally I flipped it. Still maximalist, boho indie, just evolved. The sunnies were a random gem from a coworker (thank youuu Katy 🫶). And every shoe came from Ava’s closet—an iconic collection. ✨

We shot downtown in an alleyway fire escape on an overcast, drizzly day—which gave us the coolest portrait for slide one. Tiny raindrops on her sunnies… I live for those details John captures so well!! 😍

Our second shoot taps into the other branch! full Tumblr core—moody, internet girl, messy chic—still shaped by her bold Leo aura, just reimagined through our lens. Two worlds, same stellium… because a Leo muse NEVAAAA runs out of ways to serve. 🔥

STELLIUM SERIES NO. 4 LEO // AVA 🦁

Do you know you have 30 minutes?! 30 MINUTES!!?

The Bijou Theater in Mount Vernon, Iowa—a tiny, single screen gem, rich in history, with traditional red theater seats that somehow still exist in 2025. We struggled to find a theater that didn’t have recliners, so s/o John for scouting and recommending this place because the second we stepped inside, it clicked. Nostalgic, intimate, and sooo in sync with Ava’s stellium energy. 

We started with the sweeter side of our Sweet/Sultry showgirl concept. The pink feathered miniskirt—a Plato’s Closet treasure and actually the very first piece I secured for Ava’s wardrobe capsule! It ended up setting the tone for everything. I did her hair, makeup, and styling, and pinned every curl to be left until just moments before shooting. 

We only had 30 mins to shoot, so we transitioned QUICKLY into the sultry showgirl moment. The red corset, sparkly hot shorts, and gold pumps dialing the drama all the way up. 🔥 Most of this look came from Ava’s own closet, which made it feel even more authentic! It was giving modern showgirl, old Hollywood r***e, and honestly a sprinkle of Taylor Swift’s “Life of a Showgirl,” which had just been announced—the timing was almost too on brand!!

All that Leo absolutely comes through here!! Ava has this warmth, this natural spotlight glow that makes the whole theater feel like it’s part of her world. Mercury in Leo shows up in her expressions and the way she communicates a whole story with one pose, and Saturn in Leo is why she shows up prepared and passionate, even when we had only 30 mins to shoot two looks. We loveee a dedicated divaaa 👏. 

John captured the chaos and the magic beautifully—even adding some grain to the some of the finished edits per my request (thanks for putting up with me, you da best 🫶😹) and Naomi was our behind the scenes angel with quick changes, styling help, and BTS that made the whole whirlwind possible. ✨🔥🎬
