STELLIUM SERIES // CANCER ♋️ // AJ PT II
Dedication at its finest—Aj (and her boyfriend Caleb!) drove all the way from Des Moines on one of the hottest days of the summer. 96° + Iowa humidity in July (corn sweat and all lmao). All so we could drag a porcelain clawfoot tub John found on Facebook Marketplace and an old rocking chair out to the roller dam. 🤪
It was honestly ungodly—sweat pouring, makeup melting, John nearly passing out from heat exhaustion. And still, AJ managed to carry that effortless Cancerian softness through all the chaos.
Cancer is ruled by the Moon—memory, water, home, emotion—and the ultimate connection to the divine feminine. This whole setup leaned into that. The rocking chair felt like ancestry and comfort. The clawfoot tub was basically a giant shell, private sanctuary energy, dropped right onto the riverbank. The fishing pole set up gave it that nostalgic, old soul vibe. And then there was the tacklebox—it wasn’t just practical, it was a shell full of treasures: a family photo tucked between lip gloss, hair clips, small stuffies, and little animal figurines (land and sea, sound familiar? 🦀). A portable shrine of memory, comfort, and care.
People always think of Cancer as sweet, sensitive, caretaker vibes (and yes), but they’re also campy, absurd, and so willing to go to extremes for the people they love!! This shoot was pure Cancer stellium: absurd, heavy, and all heart—yet still tender, iconic, and unforgettable. Just like Cancer energy itself, those red boots carried softness with bite, comfort with edge. I’ll never get over them!! 😩😍
That’s truly Cancer magic. Turning swamp ass, corn sweat, heatstroke level commitment + delusional art direction into something that feels like memory, myth, and comfort all at once.
