Every time I spot an abandoned building, my poor husband knows what’s coming… “Pull over!”
It could be an old gas station, a forgotten hotel, or just something left behind, but I can’t help it—I’m drawn in.

I find myself wondering…
Who was the last person here?
What was the story?
Why did they walk away?

That curiosity is one of the reasons I fell in love with photography. A photograph can freeze a moment in time, but it can also whisper pieces of a story—ours, or someone else’s.

Here are a few snapshots of abandoned places I couldn’t resist exploring. Each one feels like a chapter from a book I’ll never get to finish… but I’ll keep collecting the pages. 📸✨

📷 I know, I’ve been a little MIA lately—end-of-summer chaos hit hard!
Last week we celebrated my husband earning his master’s degree (so proud of him! 👏). I meant to bring out my Canon more… but most of the photos ended up on my iPhone. Oops!

Still, I wanted to share a few moments—scroll through to spot my mom and me accidentally twinning with our facial expressions (people say I have her mannerisms… you don’t say 😂).

And don’t miss the last photo—it’s a gem I caught while trying to snap a sweet picture of Grandpa Ron. Instead, I captured a dad (possibly a few mai tais deep) rocking a full-on sand bikini his kids made for him. Now that’s vacation. 🤣

📸✨ Meet my (not-so-little) muse, Joshua — who just turned 11! 🎉💙

He’s growing up so fast, but thankfully he still humors me when I say, “Hey bud, let me grab my camera real quick…” 😅
Whether it’s golden hour in the backyard or a spontaneous shoot while we’re out and about, he’s always been such a trooper for his photographer mama.

This shot is extra special — not just because he let me take it without bribery 😄 — but because it captures that quiet strength and kindness I see in him every day. Being behind the lens is one of my favorite places to be, but getting to photograph my own children as they grow? That’s a privilege I’ll never take for granted.

🌿 New Logo. Same Me. Just More Official.

I realized I never properly introduced my new logo… so let’s fix that! 👋 I’m Cecilia—photographer, boy mama x3, bonus mama to a lovely young lady, sunset chaser, born and raised in Washington State……. and now a Southern Utah super fan.

I wanted a logo that felt like me—simple, earthy, and a little wild (kind of like my toddlers 😅). That’s why I went with natural earth tones and a mountain silhouette. I adore Southern Utah and its rugged beauty—it’s a huge part of why I pick up my camera.

Speaking of beauty, check out this wildflower I snapped recently. It wasn’t until I was about to post it that I spotted a tiny bug buddy just hanging out on the stem. If I’d noticed him earlier, I would’ve zoomed in and given him his own headshot. Nature works together in the coolest ways, doesn’t it?

Wasn’t exactly a planned shoot, but I couldn’t resist snapping a few adorable shots of & Kalel’s beautiful family at the July Jamboree. Thank you both for letting me capture these sweet moments—Maverick is the cutest! Just look at those eyes! 😍

I’ve officially become that girl who takes her camera everywhere… zero shame and all heart. Now I just need a better camera strap, Daddy. 😉📸

When I don’t have any human models around, I get the honor of photographing her—Mother Nature. 🌎

Flowers, leaves, bees, and sunsets don’t judge. They don’t roll their eyes when I say, “just one more.” They let me play with focus, depth of field, and manual settings until I get it just right.

Snapping shots of my favorite wildflowers and fall leaves has become one of my favorite ways to grow behind the lens. Every petal and every leaf reminds me why I fell in love with photography in the first place.

A little shoutout to my sweet family—yes, that includes my two black kitties! They were my very first “models” back when I started playing around with photography. I’d set up little photo shoots and, honestly, I think Shelby might’ve been the only one who actually enjoyed them. 😂

These four kiddos, my husband, and my black sister cats are my why. They’re the reason I’m stepping out of my comfort zone, pushing myself to grow, and continuing to learn. It’s why I’ve registered for more photography classes this coming fall semester, because I want to keep getting better at this craft I love.

Speaking of fall, just a friendly reminder—while we’re soaking up summer, fall is just around the corner! If you’re thinking about family photos this season, I’d love to work with you. I’m always looking to add more beautiful families to my portfolio!
