Golden hour down by the lake hits different. šŸŒ…āœØI had the absolute best time capturing these senior portraits! We wanted a session that highlighted a mix of varsity athletic style, clean modern looks, and those gorgeous Southwest Virginia views—and the lighting absolutely showed up for us.

High school senior year flies by so fast. It is so important to freeze these milestone moments before they head off to their next big chapter. šŸŽ“šŸ“ø

I’ve known Melody since she was pregnant with Amara and first trusted me to capture that season of her life. Since then, I’ve had the privilege of watching her love her daughter so fiercely, always putting Amara first, and now watching the two of them so genuinely happy is something that means more to me than I can say.

Then came Logan—a little meet-cute, a really wonderful man, and apparently exactly the person they both needed. I am so thankful Melody found him. Watching the way he loves them both makes my heart incredibly happy.

When Melody told me she wanted to get married somewhere with tall trees, I already knew the place. A little tucked-away piece of forest right in my own backyard that feels almost magical at twilight. And with Pastor Brandon Hay there to marry them, it was the sweetest setting for the beginning of this new chapter.

Logan and Melody, I’m so happy for you three. May this life you’re building together be full of laughter, adventure, and the kind of love that makes a little girl feel safe and a mama feel cherished.

Congratulations, you two. What a beautiful beginning. šŸŒ²āœØšŸ¤

Sierra reached out in the spring about documenting her family while they were visiting from Tennessee, and Storm Brew Farm turned out to be the most beautiful setting for their evening.

Rain fell until the very moment we began, and then, almost as if on cue, the clouds opened to a blue sky. Wildflowers, Highland cattle, wandering farm cats, and the sweetest little boy made the evening feel wonderfully simple. ✨

There is something special about being invited into a family’s story, even for just an hour. I’m so grateful the Blockers brought theirs to these mountains. šŸ¤

Some weddings stay with you long after the last dance.

Just two months ago, Amber reached out with a vision for a backyard wedding wrapped in twinkle lights, surrounded by the people they love most. It sounded magical—and somehow, it turned out even more beautiful than I imagined.

But what I’ll remember most isn’t the lights or the details. It was the way Chris and Amber looked at each other. The vows they shared were honest, vulnerable, and filled with the kind of love that’s been tested, chosen, and built with intention. There truly wasn’t a dry eye in the crowd.

Together, they’ve created a beautiful blended family and have found their greatest joy in raising their children side by side. They’re thriving as parents, as business owners, and now as husband and wife, and it was such an honor to witness the beginning of this new chapter.

Congratulations, Mr. & Mrs. Cooper. Thank you for trusting me to preserve a day that felt every bit as magical as your love story. Here’s to a lifetime of laughter, family, and countless twinkle-lit evenings together. āœØšŸ¤

Some stories are especially sweet because you’ve had a front-row seat from the very beginning.

I’ve been photographing Hailey and Jordan since junior prom, through senior portraits, family sessions, and so many moments in between. Somewhere along the way, Jordan’s sister became one of my clients too, and it’s been such a joy watching these families become part of mine.

Now, here they are—counting down the days until their October wedding. šŸ¤

Lincolnshire Lake couldn’t have been a more perfect backdrop for this chapter, and I already know their next one is going to be even more beautiful. I can’t wait to celebrate these two in just a few short months.

It feels like yesterday I was photographing Remy for her PreK-3 milestone, and now she’s getting ready to start kindergarten. šŸ„¹šŸŽ

Watching the little ones I photograph grow up is one of the greatest joys of this job. This dinosaur-loving, school-excited girl kept me laughing from start to finish, and I have no doubt she’s going to thrive in this next adventure.

Thank you, Shauntea and Nate, for trusting me to document these sweet seasons of your lives. Happy kindergarten week, sweet Remy! Go make the world your playground. šŸ¤šŸ¦–

Some families become more than clients—they become part of the story of your business.

The Breeding and Barnett family has been with me since the very beginning, and somewhere along the way, our paths became beautifully intertwined.

I first met Chelsea, and through her came Mel. Their mom, Amanda, used to work with my dad, and her brother, Aaron, lovingly cared for my grandma during his time
at Commonwealth. Even Chelsea’s husband’s family has been in front of my camera through the years. Around here, our stories have a way of weaving together, and I think that’s one of the most beautiful parts of living in these mountains.

Over the years, I’ve had the privilege of documenting laughter, milestones, growing families, and seasons of both joy and heartbreak.

Chelsea and Briar carry the love of their sweet daughter, Maci, with them every single day. Though she isn’t physically in these photographs, she’s still part of their family story. You can see that love reflected in the way they cherish Jaxson, the way they honor his sister, and the way they continue moving forward while never leaving her behind.

Photography has always been about more than pictures to me. It’s about preserving the people we love, the connections that shape us, and the stories that deserve to be remembered.

To the Breeding and Barnette family—thank you for trusting me year after year, season after season. The relationships I’ve built through this business are the greatest blessing I could have asked for, and I’m endlessly grateful that our lives continue to cross paths here in these beautiful Appalachian mountains. šŸ¤

Madden Chase šŸ¤

The fourth. The final baby. And the one and only boy.

I have photographed so many chapters of Chase and Gabby’s story—engagements, their wedding, maternity sessions, family sessions, newborns, cake smashes, and then doing it all over again as their beautiful family grew.

And now here we are celebrating their fourth baby. Their three girls and their sweet baby boy.

There is something so special about getting to watch a family grow, but getting to do it for people who have become such dear friends makes it even more meaningful. Chase and Gabby are the kind of people I can laugh with, joke with, be completely myself around, and somehow still manage to take beautiful pictures of their children in between all of it. šŸ˜‚

I truly adore this family more than I can put into words, and it is such an honor to keep documenting all of these little milestones along the way.

Happy birthday, baby boy Madden! You are so incredibly loved—and you have the very best parents. šŸ¤

A little heads up! šŸ¤
I’ll be out of town and unplugging from July 18–25. During that time, I won’t be available for sessions or responding as quickly to messages.

I’ll be in Myrtle Beach, SC, so if you’ve been dreaming of a beach session, send me an inquiry! I’d love to photograph your family, your love story, or just this season of life while I’m there. 🌊

I’ll be back to my Appalachian mountains before you know it. 🫶

One of the greatest gifts this job has given me is the chance to witness life unfold.

Years ago, when I was just beginning this little photography business, Samantha trusted me with one of my very first sessions—a cake smash for sweet Hadley. I was learning, growing, and finding my place behind the camera, and she’ll probably never know just how much that trust meant to me.

Fast forward to today, and her son has graduated high school. The babies I once photographed are growing up, and Samantha is stepping into a beautiful new chapter alongside Chris.

Watching them together made it easy to see the joy they bring each other. Chris has such a genuine, kind presence, and seeing the way he looks at Samantha left me smiling behind my camera. I couldn’t be happier for them.

Of course, no session is complete without a four-legged family member, and Griffey—their newly rescued boy—stole a few hearts of his own. He fit right in, as if he’d always been part of the story.

We spent the evening soaking in one of those breathtaking Appalachian sunsets that seem to stop time for just a moment, racing the storm clouds that were gathering in the distance. The light was golden, the air was still, and for a little while, everything felt exactly as it should. šŸ¤
