I have a media background and I've written a few good stories. Whether seascapes or landscapes, marine life or people, my goal is to do more than take a pretty portrait. I don't shoot what it looks like, I shoot what it feels like. I take pictures every day. I research ways to make my pictures better, every day. I took a course in B&W photography and have darkroom experience as required by my coll

ege degree. More recently I completed a semester in Digital Photography & Lightroom Editing at Cuesta Community College to improve my technique, expand my knowledge and perfect my photo-editing skills. I've entered some competitions and won some awards. Right now I'm the administrator and photographer for the San Luis Obispo County Business Improvement District/Visitor Alliance of Cayucos's Facebook and Instagram accounts. Important: Respect the nap 🦦! I photograph sea otters using either an RF 800mm or telepohoto 600mm lens to capture clear shots while maintaining a respectful distance. These moms need all the rest they can get! They feed, care, fluff, groom and teach their pups foraging and independence for up to 9-12 months. This little one yesterday lazily nursed in the sun while mom caught a few Zzzz’s at the sea otter “nursery” …a favorite spot for moms and pups in Morro Bay.

Of course Sea Shanty owner spent hours before we arrived to celebrate Norman’s (Hub’s) birthday making his favorite banana cream pie from scratch. What a surprise. He says it’s the best banana cream pie he’s ever had. You can taste when food is made with love. No words for the extra kindness on this special day. ❤️

The swing from a stormy early morning extreme high tide to a low tide at noon this California King Tide New Year’s Day meant deceivingly calm waters coincided with the Cayucos Polar Bear Dip, with more dippers running out far beyond the typical plunge distance and swimming in the 59-degree water for longer stretches than usual.

Thank you first responders for keeping Cayucos safe - including a jet ski rescue of an exhausted polar swimmer.

One of my favorite photos taken of Cayucos Santa and Mrs. Claus in 2019 is captured on a hand-painted ornament hanging up at the Santa House “In Memory of Della,” our sweet Mrs. Claus who filled the role 30 years here until she passed away this summer.

I don’t know who made it, but it’s beautiful. Hubs took the photo of it on his daily downtown walk today. He thought I’d like it. I do. ❤️

A slice of life on the South T-Pier tonight: The lighted Crab Pot Tree, the lighted Chablis returning from a cruise, fishermen talking and a mama and young sea otter frantically calling for at least 1 1/2 hr. to one another in the dark. They were still calling when I left. I hope mom finds her baby tonight. That’s a long time to be separated.
