Scared of awkward poses? That’s okay. 🤎

It’s not your job to know what to do. That’s mine.

I completely adored this family session from last year. They were silly, playful, warm, and completely themselves.

And I know a new season with a teen can bring a whole new set of “family photo scaries.” 😂

Will they cooperate?
Will they think photos are embarrassing?
Will they even want to be affectionate anymore?

Here’s what I’ve found: kids and teens still want to be part of the memories. They still love a little affection with Mom and Dad. And yes, they usually don’t mind having a little spotlight on their new favorite look. 😉

You don’t have to have everything figured out before your session. You just have to show up. I’ll guide you, give you prompts, and help you through the silly, the sweet, and even the slightly awkward moments.

And a huge shoutout to this family for trusting me enough to let me lead them for their session and for snapping this wonderfully silly, awkward pose. 😂

Because THIS stage won’t last forever 🤍

One day you’ll realize they don’t suck their thumb anymore. Their baby cheeks have slimmed out, they’ve traded wobbly steps for running, and the little habits that once felt so permanent have quietly disappeared.

Sweet Immy spent the beginning of her session taking it all in, thumb in mouth and staying close while she decided whether she trusted me. Those quiet moments of curiosity and caution are such a beautiful part of who she is right now.

One year old milestone sessions aren’t just about documenting a birthday. They’re about preserving who your little one is right now. Their personality, their expressions, their quirks, and all the tiny details that make this season so special.

Because before you know it, they’ll be onto the next stage. ✨

Seeing returning clients year after year is a huge privilege, and one I never take lightly.

I’m so grateful for all of my clients, especially those like Gabby who sought me out in a sea of photographer ads and chose me to document her family again and again.

And now, while I’m over here finishing baking my third baby boy, I’m feeling extra grateful for every family who continues to see me, trust me, and support my little photography business.

You don’t need a big milestone to celebrate this season of life. 🤎

Maybe it’s a new marriage, a growing family, a birthday, a new chapter, or simply all the little wins that made this year what it is.

Last fall, I photographed this gorgeous newlywed couple at the NC Museum of Art, and I love how their images captured not just what they looked like, but what this season of their life felt like.

Happy Wednesday! Back to the routine. Back to school. Back to growing, learning, and this year… EOGs! 😅

My little Lucca is officially a third grader, and I am SO proud of him. He is such an empathetic, silly, energetic boy, and I can’t wait to see all that you learn this year—and how your confidence and personality continue to soar. I’m wishing you all the good magic juice for this year! ✨

And to all of you moms: I’m wishing you an amazing school year, too. Here’s to conquering schedules, chauffering, lunches, activities, homework, and ALL the mental load… and hopefully giving ourselves a little more grace along the way. ❤️

Speaking of mental load, one thing I started working on with Lucca this summer was teaching him to NOTICE the things that need to get done.

Instead of always waiting for me to tell him what comes next, I’ve been encouraging him to look around, think ahead, and notice what needs to happen—whether that’s getting his things ready, helping with something at home, or preparing for the next day.

He’s done SO well so far. Of course, he still needs reminders (don’t we all? 😂), but he’s learning something bigger: that he is part of a family, and being part of a family means participating in it.

We’ll keep working on noticing, preparing, and taking ownership of the little things. My hope is that it means more peaceful mornings, less rushing, and a little less of that “MOM, WHERE IS MY—” chaos. 😂

Well… surprise! 💙

Baby boy number three is on the way, and if I’m being honest, this wasn’t exactly in my plans. With Lucca being 8 and Oliver almost 4, I thought I had officially graduated from the baby stage. No more diapers, no more sleepless nights, no more nursing.

Life had other plans. 🤍

This pregnancy has brought excitement, gratitude, fear, anxiety, and one very rough first trimester. But at 19 weeks, I’m finally feeling more like myself and starting to embrace this new chapter for our family.

I shared more of the story in today’s email, including some of the challenges I’ve faced in motherhood, my plans to exclusively pump for the first time, and why this baby feels like such an unexpected gift.

My first baby just turned 8! 🥹🎉

Snapped these photos right before taking off to his birthday party at Urban Air with all his friends 🎈 I had planned on doing a balloon garland, but didn’t have the time hahah. Mama is all over the place sometimes 😅 But I absolutely loved the way these came out because it truly shows how my Lucca is 🤍

He is so into imaginative play, give him all the action figures or a pack of modeling clay to make his own 🧸✨ He is playful, a giant empath, and full of wonder 🌟 I am so grateful to be your mommy!
