A Fortnite billionaire is buying forests instead of mansions and most people had no idea 🌲. Tim Sweeney, the man behind Epic Games, has spent nearly two decades purchasing about fifty four thousand acres of North Carolina wilderness. He is not building resorts or golf courses. He is protecting the land forever through conservation partnerships and donations. In 2016 he gave seven thousand acres to the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service. In 2021 he donated another seven thousand five hundred acres to the Southern Appalachian Highlands Conservancy, the largest private land gift in state history 💚.
It is rare to see this much wealth used so quietly for something bigger than profit. Sweeney says his focus now is turning these lands into one connected corridor for wildlife to move freely 🦋. Sometimes real change happens without headlines.
