I'm so pleased that my film has gained recognition by being selected in festivals around the country, and winning "Best Documentary" in two of them. My goal has always been to bring awareness to the fact that there are many Black Fathers who are present in the lives of their children. The narrative that we are more negligent in our responsibilities versus other ethnic and racial groups is simply not true, and has led to an unhealthy and unbalanced perspective about Black men. Now this awareness comes to my home state of New Jersey as an "Official Selection" to the New Jersey Documentary Film Festival in Sparta, NJ. I'm psyched!!! Filming interviews ultimately comes down to the person in the chair. The setting and technology matter—they shape the frame—but it’s the person in front of the lens who carries the story. That said, spending time with Melissa as she shared her experience with COOP Camden was simply…cool.

Another day of filming at the studio! Got the HomePod playing tunes during set up; DJ providing security, and our guest - Rakim Stevens sharing his awesome story of raising his kids as a single father! He’s also starting a non-profit called, “Father’s Forward” to create a safe space for fathers to learn from one another and share their challenges and victories as fathers! So inspired by his work!

I'm so psyched to share that the films, "Salmon for Soldiers - Day of Honor" produced by Humanity Pictures, and "Marc Dervaes - A Soldier's Journey" produced in association with Tradition Production Group, are both "Official Selections" to the Religion Faith International Film Festival! It feels good to know that the experiences of our veterans, along with the stories of the organizations that support them are being recognized. Without a doubt, their service and sacrifice are pretty extraordinary. I also want to acknowledge the entire teams for both projects. Their dedication to telling these stories resulted in us having an amazing experience!

Earlier this week, I had a chance to work with my dear friend, Tatiana Bacchus, who brought me in as a DP to film part of a documentary about new Breaking Hall of Famer, Rafael Xavier. He's a native of Wilmington DE who carved out a life long career in Break Dancing and is now telling his story - and what a story it is.
