Think all lions are the same? Think again.

Meet the Asiatic Lion 🦁 I have been working on a story covering these incredible cats for the past six years and it’s finally out! Now that the story is here, I’ll be posting more about Asiatic lions all through June!

I have been waiting a long time to write these words - The Last Lions of Gir is the wildlife feature story in next month’s National Geographic Magazine!

I have had the honor of working on this project with Steve and Sharon for over seven years. But the journey to this moment started well before that…

My grandfather’s cabin sat at the edge of nowhere, but hidden within was a gateway to the universe. Every trip to visit him meant trekking through the lush jungles of South America, rocketing past Saturn’s rings, diving into the most vibrant reefs or darkest caves. Each expedition started the same way - staring up at three bookshelves of solid yellow, and pulling out a magazine.

Today, thanks to the incredible team that worked on this story, I get the privilege of making my own contribution to that magical yellow bounded portal.

So please go read the full story on National Geographic! The link is in my bio and the magazine is out in June!

Sony’s new lens is exactly what we’ve been waiting for 📸 Almost all the wildlife video you’ve seen on my page is from the OLD 100-400mm zoom lens… So when they told me they were going to announce a major upgrade (with a constant aperture of f/4.5!) I couldn’t wait to put it to the test.

Since then I’ve just been counting down the days to share it with you!

Shout out to for letting me get this bad boy early & join the launch in NYC!

Oh and apparently there’s a new camera too… 👀

You taught us that wonder isn’t a childhood thing to be outgrown, but a way of seeing the planet as it truly is: fragile, fierce, and worth every breath we take to defend it.

From the deepest reefs to the highest canopies, your voice has been the thread connecting people to creatures they may never meet and places they may never stand.

You continue to inspire me, and so many others.

Happy 100th, Sir David Attenborough. The wild speaks because you listened first. 🦁🌍
