Shop Prints & Merch My imagination has lived quite a life.

It is there that I have been around the world, saved many lives from certain disaster, and traveled to a galaxy far, far away. The reality is..."Reality is", a phrase that I will never forget. 2020 saw the passing of a good friend of mine who was quite well known for saying this to people in conversations. It's not that he wasn't a dreamer, but that he was well-grounded. He had even named his busi

ness 'RealityIs'. My reality is that I have spent nearly 30 years in the plastics industry, however, I was continually searching for a more creative and fulfilling endeavor. My different side hustles included custom building golf clubs, being a custom woodworker, web design, and blogging. Photography, however, has been something that I have always enjoyed doing, but, other than doing some freelance work in the late 1990s, I never really took it past the hobby stage. I also, at least not until the last couple of years, didn't really explore it as an art form. This changed when I started learning some new photographic techniques that helped me create some pieces that began to stir my emotions. I realized that each image told a story. It was then that photography became my art. My story — my reality — was changing.

NOT my image - I only processed the data. I needed some practice processing and I haven't been able to capture any of my own deep sky images for a while now... Too many cloudy nights. 😋😶‍🌫️

I still have a lot of learning to do when it comes to processing deep sky objects. I didn't quite get the colors I was looking for, but I'm happy with what I ended up with.

"Between Seasons" - The seasons are changing again — and as this image shows, they don’t follow the dates on a calendar. Sometimes autumn and winter collide in the same moment, leaving you standing in the middle of two realities at once.

That’s where I find myself right now.
The seasons of my own life are shifting in ways I didn’t expect.

I’m not a full-time photographer, at least not yet. For over 30 years, I’ve worked in the plastic injection molding industry. It’s the career that has supported me and my family, even while my heart has always been pulled toward photography.

I always imagined photography would become my second career after I retired. But losing my day job recently changed that timeline in a way I wasn’t prepared for. And while I would love to move into something photography-related, or even Photoshop-related, right now finding a new job has become top priority.

So here I am… a little like this tree.
Autumn leaves blazing brightly, while winter settles quietly around the roots. Watching the seasons change before me, knowing I can’t control the timing, only how I respond.

And maybe that’s the lesson hidden in this scene:
We don’t get to choose our seasons, but we do get to choose our faith through them.

Even when life feels uncertain, even when the next step isn’t clear, there’s something to be learned in the transition. There’s purpose in the overlap. And just like the tree stands firm between autumn and winter, we can stand firm too, trusting that a new season will come, even if we don’t yet know when.

This image was captured in the Great Smoky Mountains National Park. I stood by the stream for a while, just watching the water move — winding around rocks, roots, and fallen branches, yet never stopping. It didn’t question the path ahead; it simply trusted its flow.

It reminded me of how faith works. Life doesn’t always go the way we expect, but even when the path twists and turns, there’s still purpose in every bend. Sometimes peace is found not in knowing the way, but in trusting the One who guides it. 🌿

✨ “Trust in the Lord with all your heart
and lean not on your own understanding;
in all your ways submit to him,
and he will make your paths straight.”
— Proverbs 3:5–6

Have you ever had to trust the flow when life didn’t make sense?
💬 I’d love to hear your thoughts below or simply give me a thumbs up if you can relate. And, if you can relate, please share this post.

It’s been a while since I’ve shared any new work, but this moment from the Great Smoky Mountains National Park reminded me why I fell in love with photography in the first place.

The sound of the rushing water, the crisp mountain air, and the explosion of autumn color felt like a reset for the soul. It reminded me that peace isn’t something we have to chase — sometimes, it’s simply waiting for us in nature’s quiet corners.

This trip was exactly what I needed — a reminder to slow down, breathe, and take in the beauty that’s all around us. 🍂

Introducing a new series: "Composed of Imagined Light."
This is where my photography begins to dream; where the real world softens and imagination quietly takes its place. - [Link in Bio] https://denniscaskey.art/pages/composed-of-imagined-light

This first image, "Reflected Light", began with a photo of the Ludington lighthouse. I removed the pier, lifted the water, and set it beneath a field of stars. None of this happened in real life—but I imagined it, and here it is. (No AI, only my own photographs reworked by hand.)

This piece was born out of a difficult year. I’ve been let down in emotionally painful ways. Yet I know I’m not alone in this. Many of us walk through seasons where life feels heavy, whether through family struggles, health issues, financial pressures, or circumstances we never saw coming.

In those moments, we find ourselves searching for hope...

To me, this lighthouse is more than light on still waters; it’s a reminder that even in dark nights, there is guidance. My hope is that "Reflected Light" brings you the same peace and direction it’s brought me.

I’d love to hear your thoughts on this new piece. Does "Reflected Light" speak to you the way it does to me? Your feedback means a lot to me. Every person sees something different in these images and I’d love to know what you see here. Comment below and let me know how this image makes you feel.

Stay tuned, I’ll have more to share soon.

After tonight, my entire photography archive will be retired. Most of what I’ve created over the past few years will be gone… and it won’t return.

This is the final day to collect something from my original catalog.

A photo that reminds you of a place. A feeling. A season of your life. This is it. The store closes tonight at midnight.

Thank you for following along. Thank you for being here.
