Have you ever REALLY thought about the miracle of a photograph? The ability to capture a moment in time, to grasp the fleeting and the passing and remember who we were in that moment. This is why I love portraits because for me the truth of who a person is transcends my lens and is somehow imprinted in time beyond the physical. A headshot can really make a difference to how you are seen and for me the most important part of my work is making sure you are fully seen so that the photo is the truest possible representation of every part of you, the dark and the light, the heart and the humanity of you, beautiful you.

Laila really was such a joy to shoot and seeing the amazing support she has from her family is truly wonderful. First headshots are important and it really does help when you’re starting out to have guidance but unfortunately I think the reality is that most people don’t necessarily have access to the right support or direction, I know I didn’t and I had to make a lot of painful mistakes on my own. I’m not saying this is bad but I don’t believe it has to be that difficult. So I want to share my experience so you can learn from my mistakes. My next blog post is going to be part of a series called “An Actor Prepares” and I will be sharing with you some things I’ve learned along the way as an Actor and as a Photographer. The first post will be focusing on; preparing for your first shoot. I’m sure that Laila would want me to give a shout out to from for her help and support in this process ✨🙏🏻
