One year ago today, we launched 716 Iris with a simple idea: to create something truly unique and give people a chance to see themselves in a way they never had before.

What started as a dream turned into something way bigger than we imagined. Over the past year, we’ve photographed almost 300 irises, met so many incredible people, traveled to events, watched clients’ jaws drop when they saw their iris artwork for the first time, and created pieces we hope people treasure for years.

To celebrate our first anniversary, we did something fun. We went back through every iris we photographed and counted up the colors. Here’s what a year of looking into your eyes looked like:

🔵 Blue: 47%
🟤 Brown: 43%
🟡 Hazel: 7%
🟢 Green: 3%

Blue and brown were almost neck and neck all year, but blue edged it out by just 11 eyes. Green was the rarest, with only about 1 in every 40 people who sat in our chair having truly green eyes. And still, no two irises were ever alike.

To every person who booked with us, trusted us, shared our posts, told a friend about us, stopped by our booth, bought artwork, or supported us in any way, thank you. You are the reason we made it through our first year.

A special thank you to our families, friends, and everyone behind the scenes who believed in this crazy idea from the beginning. This past year had long days, late nights, learning curves, challenges, and a lot of little victories, but honestly, we wouldn’t change it.

We’re proud of how far 716 Iris has come, and we’re even more excited for what’s next.

We have some exciting news!

716 Iris has been nominated for The Buffalo News Best of 716 in the Retail & Shopping category under Best New Business (Est. 2025/2026)! 🎉

If you’ve had your iris photographed by us, stopped by one of our events, shared our posts, told a friend about us, or simply cheered us on from the sidelines, thank you. This little business has grown because of all of you.

Thank you Stephanie for all that you do behind the scenes helping this all stay organized because I’d still be trying to perfect every little detail.
