The Ashford Junction Tower, also known as AD Tower, is an abandoned historic concrete railroad interlocking tower located on Route 242 between Ellicottville and Highway 16 in western New York.History and ArchitectureBuilt: 1914 by the Buffalo, Rochester, and Pittsburgh Railway (BR&P).Location Significance: It served as a major switching station and control point where the BR&P lines from Buffalo and Rochester converged into a single line heading south.Design: It features a distinctive Spanish Mission-style ceramic tile roof and thick, poured-concrete exterior walls designed to last.Operations: The tower fell out of regular service in the 1960s as operations changed, though active freight trains on the former Rochester line still pass the site today.πŸš‚
