A toast to the first hints of gold.

A little PSA for anyone planning around Colorado fall colors this year: the aspens are making their own plans. Color has already been spotted here and there, and the predictions are kind of all over the place.

Aspen season has never been an exact science. Shorter days get things started, but elevation, moisture, drought, warm days, cool nights, frost, wind and even an early snow can change when a grove turns and how long those leaves actually hang on.

We can plan for the historically right window, but Mother Nature doesn’t take reservations. And this year especially, I wouldn’t put too much faith in a “peak color” date on a calendar.

Mary found her way to Leadville. Matthew found his way to Mary. Together they began building a meaningful life in the mountains.

He's a big game hunter, a man of many interests and someone who knows his way around the wild. She's a fiercely independent adventurer who, somehow, has still managed to teach him a thing or two.

Yesterday, in the place they now call home, with friends and family from near and far...they got married.

I think that when someone is meant to be in your life, somehow, life will keep putting them in your path.

Mark and Carolyn met at work. Then they matched online. And somewhere along the way, two paths became one.

A day steeped in tradition, surrounded by family, and overflowing with love and joy.

I love these two dearly, and I am so grateful they trusted me with this story. I cannot wait to see where this life takes them together.

You don't have to know exactly where you're going. Most of us end up somewhere entirely different than where we once imagined anyway.

So take the long way. Change your mind. Take the risk. Fall in love with something unexpected. Let yourself outgrow old dreams and find new ones. Chase the things that make you feel wildly alive. There is so much life to be lived between where you are and where you are going.

I hope your love is ever growing, ever changing.

I hope your love is powerful and free,

And may you always find each other,

Like a river finds the sea.

It was a rad wedding, exactly like I knew it would be. A little western, a little eclectic, and effortlessly cool. The dress code alone deserves its own moment. There was line dancing, a live band, crowd surfing, and so many thoughtful little pieces woven throughout the day that made the whole thing feel completely, unmistakably Kristen + Timmy.

So damn fun. So entirely them. And I’m really grateful I got to be there for it.

Their hearts have always belonged out west. From fast and splashy days on the Ark to exchanging vows surrounded by Utah's red rock canyons, Grace + Brian's story has been tied to so many wild places. It feels pretty special that they have spent this season of anticipation here in Colorado before their greatest adventure yet.

A season of dreaming, growing, and standing on the edge of what is to come.

Hers is rooted in mountain valleys, agriculture, hard work, and loving where you live. She had dreamed of wildflowers for her senior session, and even though this years drought put a damper on that, Headwater Farms opened their property to us and helped us create something really special.

Here's to the class of 2027 and the many adventures that are just beginning!

If you know her, you know them.

The horse. The dog, The pig. The sheep.

They aren't animals she's raised. They're an extension of who she is. They're woven into her story, her days, her dreams, and a big part of her being shaped into the person she is.

Our family has had the privilege of knowing her for years, but this past year I got to know her in a different way through 4-H. I've watched the way she has cared for every animal (and child) entrusted to her, and watched my own daughter loudly and boldly decide she wants to be just like her.

Some people have a way of making every living thing around them feel safe. They lead with patience. They work hard when no one is watching. They care deeply, even when its inconvenient.

As this chapter comes to a close and there are only a few county fairs and rodeos left, I hope she knows she is taking more with her than memories from the arena. She's taking the amazing character these years and experiences have built.

The world needs more people like her, our little modern day Snow White. And if my daughter grows up with even a fraction of her kindness, grit, and confidence, I'll be incredibly grateful.
