It’s not often you get to step into a place this remote and witness a cowboy still living by the rhythms of the land, water, and seasons. The stories are everywhere if you take the time to look.
We visited an ancient cave with Chumash paintings, a place long said to hold healing energy, and stopped at a rock where Native families once ground their food, the circular marks still visible in the rock.
On the way back, we had to hike 1/2 mile and check a water trough , clean the pump at the spring, and even came across a deceased bear, probably shot by hunter.
It’s when the stories stop being shared that history disappears.
