I’ve been a little quiet here lately—saving my energy and putting it where it matters most: standing up for human rights and the dignity of all people. The world feels heavy right now.

When things feel like that, I find myself turning back to nature. It reminds me that ecosystems stay healthy when every part is allowed to exist and thrive.

Anywho… here’s a moody black & white portrait of one of nature’s most misunderstood birds. 🖤

Cool fact: turkey vultures are basically the ecosystem’s clean-up crew. Their stomach acid neutralizes dangerous bacteria from decaying animals, which helps prevent disease from spreading through the environment.

Not the prettiest job. Still absolutely essential. Take a second look next time you see one overhead.

I captured this winged beauty (and many, many more) yesterday in my hometown of Bucksport, Maine. 📷
