I am a Seattle-based graphic designer, photographer, and retoucher with backgrounds in journalism and music. I see creativity as a way to pursue the potential we have for improving our experience of existence. After earning bachelor’s degrees in Graphic Design and Journalism, I completed a year-long volunteer commitment to Rwanda Partners (now called All
Across Africa). In Seattle as a Graphic Design Intern, I planned and implemented a benefit concert and auction, designing digital and print advertisements to promote the event. In Rwanda as a Volunteer Photojournalist, I traveled with Kigali-based staff and translators to gather interviews, photographs, and research, which I compiled into feature articles. As a Volunteer Graphic Designer, I styled, shot, and retouched product and lifestyle images of artisan products and then designed an informational book that was used as a marketing resource for Costco roadshows. I then spent four years establishing my professional foundation with eCommerce company Zulily. I started as a Product Photo Editor where I received foundational technical training and learned to adopt team processes quickly. Producing quality imagery in a high-production environment honed my digital image processing skills, which have been part of every role and task in my career since. I then became an Editorial Photo Editor and learned to apply new approaches and techniques. The last two years of my time at Zulily were as a Production Artist on the Special Events Team where I was able to intersect retouching with graphic design. Since then, I have worked as a Graphic Designer and Photographer for one of the largest restaurant groups in the United States. I provided foundational templates and marketing collateral as the Senior Graphic Designer for a beauty startup. I have completed album art designs for musicians, photographed and edited portraits and events, and I have retouched thousands of professional headshots. For a team within Seattle’s commercial real estate firm Marcus & Millichap I developed social graphics for a rebrand rollout and designed BOVs, reports, and newsletters. For Talking Rain Beverage Company, I developed digital ads and banners for their Popwell product launch in partnership with Kroger, designed internal campaign deliverables, and created in-store displays for Sparkling Ice and its line extensions. Through every personal project, creative endeavor, freelance assignment, and professional role, I have aimed to build on my retouching foundation and expand my design skills.
