Friday Photography Fun Fact

Most people take more photos in a year than our grandparents took in their entire lifetime.

Think about that for a second.

Thousands of photos sitting in our phones... Hundreds of selfies... Screenshots of recipes we'll never make... Pictures of that weird thing we saw at Target...

But somehow the photos we're missing most often?

The ones with us in them.

So here's your Friday challenge:

Because one day, your kids, grandkids, friends, and family won't care about the photo of your lunch.

They'll care about seeing you.

Unpopular opinion..... your yard is probably the perfect photo location.

People tell me all the time, "There's really nowhere around here that's pretty."

But here's the thing...
This family has a baseball field in their backyard.

Most people don't.

But they do.

And years from now, these photos won't just be about baseball. They'll be about their baseball field. The place where they spent countless evenings together.

The place where the kids played until it got dark. The place that feels ordinary right now but won't always be.

That's why I love photographing families at home.

Maybe it's not a baseball field.

Maybe it's a porch swing.
A driveway covered in chalk.
A garden you've spent years growing.
A backyard where the dog runs circles around everyone.

The things you see every day are often the things you'll miss the most someday.

Your photos don't have to be taken at the most beautiful location.

They just need to mean something.

The week of June 22nd through the 26th, I still have a few openings available!

I also found a local field full of purple and pink flowers, and I would absolutely love to do some dreamy golden hour photos there.

If you're already on my calendar and we just need to lock in a date, reach out. If you've been thinking about photos, now is a great time.

But honestly...

This summer, I'm really craving the real stuff.
The evening family walks.
Playing in the sprinkler.
Eating popsicles on the front porch.
Cooking dinner together.
Catching lightning bugs.

The messy, ordinary moments that don't feel important now, but somehow end up meaning everything later.

What do you want to remember about this season of life?

Your phone probably has hundreds of photos, and that's wonderful. But let's create something a little magical.

Let's make sure you're in the photos too.
Because someday these ordinary summer evenings will be the memories everyone wishes they could step back into.

Now here's where the math gets interesting...

That coffee made you happy for about 20 minutes.

The energy drink got you through the afternoon.

The Target trip... honestly, who even knows what happened there.

But family photos?

You look at them for YEARS.
They end up on your walls.
Your kids see them every day.
You smile every time they pop up in your memories.

Twenty years from now, you'll STILL have them.

So if a $300 session gives you 20 years of memories...

That's $15 a year.
$1.25 a month.
About 4 cents a day.

Photo math says that's a pretty GOOD deal. An INVESTMENT actually....

Have you ever surprised your dad with an intentionally awkward family photoshoot? 😂

Because this family did.

What started as a gift for Dad turned into one of the funniest sessions I've had in a long time. So many laughs. So many awkward poses. So much fun.

Honestly, sometimes life is heavy, and the best thing you can do is spend time laughing with the people you love most.

The photos are great.

The memories are even better.

Now tell me...
