I am starting my journey in run coaching. I’m looking for a few runners to work with who are interested in being coached in a collaborative and transparent environment as I grow as a coach. I am particular excited and confident that I can help athletes:

•Find goals in trail/ultra running that motivate them
•Build specific fitness for trail races or mountain adventures
•Improve uphill/downhill and technical terrain skills
•Explore the mental side of running
•Navigate logistics for mountain runs
•Build confidence in risk management in a variety of environments
And much more…

While I know I have a lot to offer as a coach, I also know I have a lot to learn - for that reason I’m offering coaching services at a reduced/flexible rate and I genuinely want money not to feel like a barrier here. If you’re curious, please reach out and I’m sure we can find something that will work for us both. If you or someone you know may be interested, please feel free to DM me here or get in touch at 4065488285 and we can see if it would be a good fit!

Thanks everyone! Speaking this dream into the world is as scary as any ultra I’ve taken on, but ultimately it will only be possible in the same way - putting one foot in front of the other and figuring it out!

I’ve been making these hats over the last few months and I’m excited to share that I’ve started selling them too!

I have primarily been making 5-panel hats with short soft brims and strapbacks, but the options for styles/materials are very broad. I have really enjoyed integrating upcycled materials, like the ‘Astral’ hat, which was made entirely from a retired PFD. If like what you see or have an idea, shoot me a message and let’s chat! Prices range from 40-60$ depending on a few factors.

Thanks to for helping model the hats, and to everyone who’s been encouraging me on this little sewing journey! and .design deserve special thanks for listening to me talk about hats ceaselessly!

Fiordland magic, in flora.

It’s hard to communicate the mesmeric quality of the ferns and beech and podocarps of Fiordland, they create a kind of shifting texture which morphs with the scale of the landscape, from tiny mossscapes to unfathomable carpeted walls.
This photo performs poorly on Instagram, so I’ve tried to show it in a few ways… swipe ->

Of all the beings suited to the wilds of Fiordland, the bottlenose dolphins are the best stewards of playful joy. Launching themselves out of the wake of a passing day-cruise this pod of twenty or so gave us a show, and then just kept on giving. We stayed with them for close to two hours as their energy ebbed and flowed from tossing pirouettes skyward to belly-up passes underneath the bow, slow and curious, meeting our eyes and squeaking out impossibly high-pitched calls of welcome…

My heart is full to bursting after a week on SV Allora wandering around Fiordland / Ata Whenua. In their words and actions my parents have shown me that compassion, love, nature, stillness and laughter are among the most important things.
What better place than Doubtful Sound / Patea, to spend time with them - these fjords reverberate life, beauty, and wildness in their every breath. The waterfalls, forests and birds (and dolphins 😉) all sing with a deep kind of peace known only here.

Running circles in a forest is shockingly fun! Had a blast at over the weekend. I was feeling strong and had a clear head ready to go far, unfortunately on lap 18 (~120km) my old ITB injury blew up and made a decisive end to my day. Races are good fun but there’s nothing to be gained by destroying my body.
Had a lot of good chats on the trail, but the best part was being crewed by who had the ~7 minutes of rest every hour down to a science along with and who held down the fort and made me laugh throughout!

Thanks for the great photos! (Excepting the crew selfie, of course 🤣)

I had the privilege of spending last week fastpacking the Wild 100 Mile course with two folks I admire greatly - thanks and for sharing some good yarns, laughs and requisite suffering on those massive climbs!

is sharing a whole bunch of my photos from the week over on their pages. Go check em out!

Still feeling the effects of an incredible weekend supporting the Wild 100 Recce. It was a privilege to support such a talented and experienced group of runners as they tackled 165km & ~11500m of vert across some of Otago’s toughest terrain, and in some of the hardest conditions these mountains have to offer. Humbled and inspired to say the least.
If things had aligned differently, I would have loved running alongside these legends, but looking back now this experience was all the more rewarding seen from the birds eye view of support crew - driving around at all hours, pacing through the second night, and also experiencing some significant sleep deprivation - hats off to the aid station folks of the world, it’s hard work!
🤞 here’s hoping I can toe that start line someday!
