It was a great privilege to work on this amazing volume. There were so many amazing collections and and objects to be photographed. It was also a rare honor to have my images printed along side those of my good friend and mentor Gavin Ashworth. A heartfelt thank you goes out to Americana Insights for another year of unforgettable opportunities and collaboration!

Americana Insights 2025 is all about REDWARE!

This year's volume is the most comprehensive study of Pennsylvania German redware in over a century. Focusing on redware's production, use, and collecting in southeastern Pennsylvania from the eighteenth through twentieth centuries, the book's twelve essays and appendix provide fresh insights into renowned potters such as Georg Hubener and Samuel Troxel as well as lesser-known figures. Other essays delve into the work of twentieth-century potters like Jacob Medinger, considered the last of the traditional Pennsylvania German potters, and Mildred Keyser, a pioneering revivalist potter.

It has been such a privilege working with Americana Insights this past year providing photographs to accompany several of the essays published in their latest volume. It was a grand adventure traveling around the northeast and meeting the owners of so many amazing objects and works of art and I am already excited by what lies ahead for the 2025 volume! But first I applaud the amazing team at Americana Insights and all of the talented and highly knowledgeable authors who participated in putting this quintessential journal on the shelves! 🎉Bravo all! 👏👏

The only thing more exciting than printing a new book is having it photographed! Here, Americana Insights photo-guru, Michael E. Myers, shoots our new volume. We are so grateful that we can rely on Mike's talents both in shooting our objects and the volume itself.

Have you reserved your copy of Americana Insights 2024 yet? Be sure to do so at AmericanaInsights.org or via the link within our bio! Our newest book will officially release on October 29.

While our weekly farm stand will be CLOSED today, our galleries at the Center for Pennsylvania German Studies are open at the Dewees Tavern and we’ve made a few changes! Now on view, this enigmatic work by local itinerant artist Charles C. Hofmann is back on view! Hofmann is best known as the “almshouse painter” and painted the Montgomery County Almshouse at least four different times, including one on view in the same gallery as “Horse-drawn carriage, April 1874.” We’re also excited to share that this painting will grace the cover of the next volume of Americana Insights with an accompanying essay by Historic Trappe curator, Christopher Malone. The book will be available this October!

We look forward to seeing you next week at the Speaker's House (151 W. Main Street) from 9 am to 12 pm for our farm stand, but our two other museums will be open today from 10am to 4pm and tomorrow from 12pm to 4pm. See you soon!
