Part 2 of Marley's grad portraits 🎓

The sunlight on this afternoon couldn’t have been more beautiful! Marley also selected my 2-hour option, so after visiting the Public Garden we had plenty of time to get on the T, take photos around Harvard Yard, and outside of Harvard Book Store to wrap up our super fun shoot 📚

It was an absolute delight getting to work with Marley Dias this spring! 🎓

Marley is a lifelong advocate for literacy, representation, and making sure the next generation can see themselves reflected in the stories they read. She launched the campaign at just 11 years old, and since then she’s authored a bestselling book, was listed in Forbes 30 Under 30, and continues to use her platform to help build a better future through storytelling and activism.

Truly an honor to photograph someone whose work has inspired so many, and to play a small part in helping her document her graduation from Harvard 🥰

Simone is a remarkable human being, and I feel lucky to have spent an afternoon with her and learned about her story.

This session began with a real intention to capture what it felt like for Simone to arrive at this moment in her life, after much adversity and inner strength. What I found most heartening was her seemingly boundless curiosity about the world, and especially about philosophy. We talked about her favorite philosophers, reading texts in different languages, and the connection she feels to the earth in relation to her academic journey.

Thank you Simone for a lovely experience, and for sharing your story with me! Congratulations again on your degree ❤️🎓
