To all the mamas who have booked a photoshoot, only to have your little one melt down ten minutes in:

Your photos are not ruined. You have crossed over from one version of "picture perfect" to another. Maybe the version of picture perfect you had in mind was everyone looking at the camera and smiling. This is the other version, the one where real life is happening. This is the photo you will have as an accurate record of how the majority of some days went. Finish comforting one child and then the next one is falling apart. Finish putting on one band-aid and the next kid comes running in, in crisis.

I could retouch photos to wipe away tears, but I will tell you--you don't want that, and neither does your kid. There will be a day that your child is graduating high school and you are pulling old photos out for the occasion. I have four kids--I have been parenting for 7,140 days and yet I don't think a single photo exists of me wiping one of my babies' tears.
