My “go to” items for my pet models is always developing, but lately, these have been my consistent bag fillers for sessions:
-Nikon z6ii (this is my third baby alongside my two labradors), anybody with a Nikon mirrorless knows how incredible this baby runs
-One Prime Lens & One Zoom Lens, I prefer the prime lens whenever possible but sometimes we need more flexibility when your pet first settles in. My zoom lens is also donned when we are navigating limited space for indoor sessions. And for pets that don’t enjoy strangers in their space (I get it, humans are weird), I pack my Nikon D750 with a greater zoom lens to give extra space outdoors and still capture the moments
-Phone Attachment, gotta get those behind the scenes moments in action
-Ruby+Rae Ruby Backpack + Wallet .co I LOVE the look of this backpack, it fits all my current gear, and it’s easy to clean after sessions. The wallet holds extra batteries and SD cards JUST in case
-Treat Pouch + Small Tennis Ball, I got this tip from .veenema and cannot stress how helpful it’s been to have a treat pouch that stays closed but is accessible with only one hand. All my models have heard me say “Humans, look up and smile” followed by a quick one handed grab of my tennis ball and a squeak to alert the pet models… then my shutter gets rolling!
-Lens Wipes, I promise it’s not a big deal if you have a nosey pet interested in my equipment, I allow them to smell my camera and get comfortable if they feel unsure
-Blankets, Paw Wipes, P**p Bags Lint Roller, I bring a few options to set up cozy on the ground and always pack clean up items if we need a restroom break or get muddy
Fellow photographers or pet parents, is there anything I am missing?? Tell me in the comments!
