Just sharing the struggles of a small business owner that leads with their heart. It’s not always the easiest decision to slow down when you’ve been told the hustle is respected. Or that you’re not doing enough if it’s not wearing you out. But I’m learning that I can’t offer my best if I’ve got no heart left to give. Protecting that part has been a hardest but most vital lesson to learn.

If you only knew how much I was hyping you up after the session too! It’s so much fun seeing all the little things that make someone’s expression go from oh she’s pretty - to - oh she’s STUNNING. She’s that girl.

Trust me, I have been in the shoes of showing up, having a camera in my face and freezing and forgetting my own name because I’m that nervous. I actually forget how to pose and almost need a little breather or dance break to get in the mode. I look to the photographer to give me direction. Without a doubt, if you can’t tell me what to do, I’ll be lost 😂.

When we’re getting you settled and picking out your outfits, I love to ask “when was the last time you’ve had your photos done?” This helps me get a gauge of how to handle the next couple of questions and poses.

And when I say “poses” it’s really just you going into a natural position you’d normally do, I just tweak it a little based on how the angle looks from my perspective. Because it it’s not natural, I’ll know right away but I’m not going to tell you, I’ll just have you switch it up and you’ll never know 😆.

Anyway, just know you are in safe hands when you walk through the door 🫶☺️.

Let’s be real.. Wrigley basically ran this entire session and it became the best tool for everyone to relax and enjoy that fluffy cuteness.

Naomi showed up, Wrigley showed up, and within like three minutes we were all laughing because that’s just what happens when there’s a dog involved.

No awkward energy. No stiff smiles. Stunning and fun Naomi, her ridiculously cute dog Wrigley and the whole team losing it behind the camera.

Hot take but I’m calling it: dogs are the most underrated brand session prop ever. Forget the coffee cup. Forget the laptop pose. Bring the dog 😎🐶

It’s like instant therapy.. you stop thinking about the camera, you stop trying to look a certain way, and suddenly you’re just YOU with your furry best friend 🥹.

If you’ve been putting off a brand session because you don’t know how to act in front of a camera, let us hype you up or better yet, bring your dog. Trust me. Or borrow one. 😉

We couldn’t get this cute footage without the best team around and you’re the best 🫶. Also, you need to have them at the shoot so please add video content to your session. You won’t regret it!!!

When I see women show up differently when they finally realize just how impactful and unstoppable they are, it truly lites a fire in me.. the good kind.

I want this for you so badly. I want the world to see you how I see your brand. I want them to know those challenges you’ve overcome. I want them to know that you do a little happy dance every time a new client booked you because they saw themselves in your content. I want them to see just how cool you really are.

I want your story to connect to the right people so they can find you and have their life changed by the incredible work you do 🤎.

I think we need to hear ‘no’ every once in a while to make sure we’re challenging ourselves to keep going forward and to learn and to grow from those situations.

i’ve had some personal experiences lately that have been my ‘no’.

i’ve always hated being told no, but it would always make me stop and think about how to go forward and it’s that process that I needed more than ever these last couple weeks and I’m so thankful for all of those challenges in those no’s because I’m so grateful for what I get to do today and I get to do it even better because of hearing that word.

Have you had a no that has changed your life/business? It can be heart breaking and healing all at the same time. I don’t always handle it well 🙃😅.

I apologize for using the word honey.. I don’t even say that? 🤣

Anyway, I made this reel after ghosting my social media for 3 weeks so don’t listen to me if you don’t want to but I do know that for me, the environment I’m in like networking with women growing their business and if my personal life is feeling stable (which it is now, that’s is to weeks of crying it out 🤣) that’s when I get bursts of energy to post. I don’t plan content. I make it on the fly when I feel motivated and post it and walk away like I left a house burning because that’s how much I hate watching my content.

Just think how unstoppable we’d be if we ignore the uneasy feeling of cringe and uncomfortable thoughts we have when making content? And not give a flying bat about what people think?! We might just be happier and more successful 🤎.

If you’re in season of hard right now though, ignore everything I said and get off your phone and lay on the grass please. Because we aren’t going to help by feeling like we have to do anything. And also let me know so I can give you hugs 🤍.

If you're around on the 22nd and want to hear all about Marketing with Kelly and Brand Visuals from me, I'd love to see you at the 1 Million Cups presentation! Who knows... You might even walk away with a great dad joke 👀 .

But seriously, really looking forward to this event. Hope to see you there 😁

A glimpse into the session with today 🫶📸

Soft, soulful, effortless, a little vintage, a little retro, and full of heart.

I’ve gotten to know Dayna a lot more as we’ve been planning this session and she’s just such a genuine human. She has that quiet confidence that doesn’t need to prove anything. Just genuine beauty, deep care for people, and the kind of presence you can feel. She’s the kind of person who pours so much love into what she creates.

Watching all of that come out in her session today was so cool to see. These are the kinds of shoots that remind me how much I love what I do 🤍.

We’ve been excited to share some news about this fun event coming up… !!!!

On January 30, Tosha Rochelle Photography x The Poppy Creative are teaming up to host Portraits with a Purpose! A charity-driven mini session day created entirely to give back to our community.

This experience is for anyone who wants to step in front of the camera, feel confident, and be part of something meaningful. It does not need to be a headshot for work. Come as you are. Come for you. Or gift it to someone who could use a little confidence boost to start out 2026!

100% of every booking is donated directly to
Designer Genes of North Dakota &
Dakota Children's Advocacy Center

This is truly one of the biggest and most meaningful offerings we’ve ever done 🤍. Created with the sole purpose of giving back.

Spots are limited, and once they’re gone, they’re gone.
If you’ve been wanting updated photos or know someone who would love this, this is such a special way to start the year.
