This , we’re excited to announce the upcoming release of our new documentary “Mission Sea Otter – Saving California’s Kelp Forests”, produced by .doku .
🌱 Dive with us into magical underwater jungles on the Californian Pacific Coast! Kelp forests are among the Ocean’s most biodiverse ecosystems. But they are vanishing at an alarming rate, collapsing entire food webs with them.
🦦 Sea otters are a keystone species – they protect the kelp forests that remain. Once hunted nearly to extinction, their comeback to the California coast is one of the most important conservation stories on the Pacific coast.
Our new documentary traces the story of how sea otters were brought back from extinction, how sea urchin barrens form, why they spread – and what it would take to reverse the kelp forest loss. Swipe through for the full picture and tune in for the whole documentary:
🎬 Streaming from June 10 on ARTE Mediathek
