One question that’s been coming up a lot on my consult calls lately is formal family portraits, so I wanted to share a little about my approach.
This portion of the day is often the most structured part of your wedding timeline, and for many couples it can feel a bit overwhelming. There are a lot of people involved, emotions are high, and everyone is eager to get to cocktail hour.
To ensure everything flows seamlessly, I work closely with my couples ahead of time to create a clear and thoughtful call sheet for family portraits. We organize the groupings in a way that makes sense, keeps everyone aligned on timing, and allows us to move through the list efficiently.
My role during this time is to gently guide the process so it feels calm, organized, and easy. The goal is simple: capture the meaningful portraits that matter most to you while getting you back to celebrating with your people as quickly as possible.
Because at the end of the day, your wedding isn’t about standing in lines for photos - it’s about being fully present and enjoying every moment.
