Two years ago, I experienced my first miscarriage.
It changed me in ways I didn’t expect. There was grief, confusion, heartbreak, and a quiet kind of loneliness that’s hard to explain unless you’ve lived it.

What I also didn’t expect was how much healing I would find through my camera.

Over the last two years, I’ve had the honor of capturing growing babies, newborn curls, tiny hands wrapped around mama’s fingers, the chaos of motherhood, and the deep love that fills a family. Every session has reminded me how sacred life truly is.

Photography became more than a business for me. It became therapy. It became purpose. It became a way to hold space for mothers and families while also healing parts of myself along the way.

A Heartfelt Extended Family Session: Honoring Legacy, Love, and the Jayhawks

As a Northwest Arkansas fine art family photographer, I have the incredible privilege of stepping into people's lives during some of their most meaningful moments. I specialize in capturing those genuine, candid emotions—no forced "cheese" smiles, just real connections, laughter, hugs, and the quiet beauty of togetherness. When families invite me in, it's always special, but every once in a while, a session touches me so deeply that it becomes one of those forever-highlight memories.

This particular extended family session holds an extra layer of meaning for me because this beautiful group is my own family. They're not just clients—they're the people I love most, the ones who share holidays, stories, and everyday life with me. Being behind the lens for them felt both deeply personal and profoundly humbling.
We gathered on a perfect Northwest Arkansas day, surrounded by the natural light and landscapes I adore capturing. The energy was full of joy: siblings teasing each other, grandchildren running around with that endless curiosity, and everyone simply being themselves. I guided them through a relaxed, stress-free experience—because that's what I believe family sessions should be: fun, authentic, and focused on the love that binds you.

But the most powerful part came at the very end.

As the session wrapped up, all the siblings and grandchildren came together for one final moment. Each one slipped on a University of Kansas (KU) shirt—a cherished hand-me-down from their late Dad and Papa, Tom Frederking. The shirts carried the familiar blue and red, worn and loved over the years, telling a story of pride, tradition, and unwavering family spirit. In that instant, as they stood side by side, the weight of the moment settled over us all.

It was a beautiful, quiet tribute—honoring the man who shaped so many lives with his love, hard work, and Jayhawk loyalty. Seeing those shirts on his children and grandchildren brought tears to my eyes... and to theirs. There were soft smiles through the emotion, gentle touches on shoulders, and a shared understanding that this was more than a photo—it was a way to keep his presence close.

Capturing that moment—those overlapping generations wrapped in the same fabric of memory—will forever be one of the highlights of my year. It's the kind of image that goes beyond pretty; it preserves legacy, love, and the unbreakable bonds that time can't dim.

To my family: thank you for letting me document this. You are an amazing group of people—kind, strong, and full of heart. I'm so grateful to be part of your family, and even more grateful to preserve these pieces of our story.

Okay, real talk—how did we get here so fast? One minute they’re starting kindergarten and now you’re staring down senior year wondering how on earth you’re supposed to add senior photos to an already overflowing life.

That’s exactly why I built the way I did. This experience is for moms like you—busy, pulled in a million directions, and wanting this moment captured beautifully without it turning into another thing you have to manage.

Merry Christmas, dear friends and families! 🎄✨

Today, we celebrate the greatest gift the world has ever received—the birth of our Savior, Jesus Christ! "For unto us a child is born, unto us a Son is given..." (Isaiah 9:6). In the midst of twinkling lights, cozy gatherings, and joyful traditions, my heart is fixed on the true reason for this season: the humble manger in Bethlehem where Love came down to earth.

This past year has been such a blessing, and I'm overflowing with gratitude for the privilege of serving so many wonderful clients. You've invited me into your families to capture the laughter, hugs, and precious moments—especially those beautiful extended family gatherings filled with love. Today I’m feeling grateful, blessed, and yes — beautifully tired… tired from a prayer I whispered years ago that has now become my everyday reality.
