The last baby…

It’s not that I just miss being pregnant. I miss everything that came with it. I miss the excitement of seeing those two lines and finding out a new little life was growing. I miss telling my husband and watching his face light up. (Jk ben knows my body better than I do- he never let me surprise him. ) I miss the tiny flutters that turned into strong kicks, the constant reminder that my baby was always with me.

I miss watching my children talk to my belly, kiss it, and love their sibling before they had even met. I miss seeing my family grow before my eyes. I miss watching Ben step into that season of life again—the way he became more protective, more patient, more excited, and somehow an even better version of himself.

It’s a homesickness for a chapter of life that I can never fully return to, just live through the memories. Even though I’m grateful for where we are now, there’s a grief that comes with knowing those first announcements, those kicks, those countdowns, and those moments of anticipation are likely behind me. I don’t just miss being pregnant—I miss becoming a family all over again.

The feeling of a “last baby” is often a strange mix of gratitude and grief. You’re celebrating that you’ve experienced it while mourning that you’ll never experience those firsts again. Both feelings can exist at the same time. ❤️
