β¨ Senior Session Spotlight: Cayce Sullivan β¨
It was such a pleasure capturing this special season for Cayce, a Gilchrist County homeschool senior with an incredible passion for agriculture, leadership, and service to her community.
Over the past 12 years in 4-H, Cayce has built an impressive list of accomplishments, including:
β’ Recipient of the Head Award
β’ Multiple showmanship and class wins
β’ Recipient of the Florida 4-H Dairy Heifer Chain
β’ Served in several club leadership roles, including Club Ambassador
β’ Earned three AEST Certifications through the Florida Work Ready Program:
β Agriculture Systems Associate
β Animal Science Specialist
β Agricultural Communication Specialist
β’ Competitor in Florida 4-H Dairy Quiz Bowl
β’ Four National Dairy Convention wins
This fall, Cayce plans to earn her Veterinary Assistant certification before beginning at FGC in the spring. She will be working toward dual bachelorβs degrees in Animal Science and Animal Nutrition, with the long-term goal of becoming a large animal veterinarian serving our local community.
A very special part of Cayceβs story is Java, her four-year-old registered Brown Swiss dairy cow. Cayce received Java through the Dairy Heifer Chain in 2022, and in 2023 Java earned Reserve Grand Champion Dairy Heifer at the Suwannee River Fair. Java has since had a beautiful heifer calf named Stormie, who has now been awarded through the Dairy Heifer Chain to another Gilchrist County youth.
Caring for Java has been a true labor of love and dedication. For the first year, Cayce milked her twice a day and now continues once daily β a responsibility she faithfully maintains regardless of weather, busy schedules, or illness. That level of commitment speaks volumes about Cayceβs character, work ethic, and heart for agriculture.
Congratulations, Cayce! Your future is incredibly bright, and it was an honor to document this chapter of your journey. π€
