About a week and a half ago, I was honored to capture these sweet photos for friends who are having a baby boy in April. I'm absolutely delighted with how they turned out and I hope you enjoy seeing them! The cloudy day actually added a lovely depth to the photos.

One of my favorite things about being a photographer is how interactive it is. It’s a way to connect with those around you, especially when you are photographing young kids and their parents.

As a dad, I love the connection I have with my kids when we are able to be one on one grabbing Saturday morning donuts, or Saturday morning coffee at my favorite spot, or driving them to soccer in the early hours of the morning.

With this photo, we went to an alumni weekend at and it was a time to connect and have fun with the entire family. During the time, my son and daughter both wanted to take photos with my film camera (it was the only one I brought). My son specifically took this photo and I think it’s close to “perfect”, mainly because it was a time where he and I were able to connect. It’s not a perfect photo by any means, but that wasn’t the point at all. It was the connection that makes it “perfect”.

“Childhood is a collection of small moments that become our favorite memories.”

This past summer, as well as every summer we have lived in our current house, me and my daughter pick blackberries that we have at the back of our property. It has been one of my favorite things we do together and I cherish it whenever I remember it and get excited for that summer season when we can do it again!

One of the reasons I love taking photos is to remember these small moments that come back when I look through the photos I’ve taken during our times together. Always take the time to take the photos, even if it’s with your phone.

In the month of March, since it’ll finally be warm and the flowers will begin to bloom, I’m trying to
book out my calendar. If you and your family want photos done, please reach out or let me know in the comments!

✨ A Full Circle Moment ✨

October 2024 was one of the busiest—and most fulfilling—months of my photography journey. And what better way to kick it off than capturing Angel’s maternity session for the second time? 💛

Angel has been supporting my work since I first picked up a camera in 2020, and her trust in me means the world. But this shoot was extra special—not just because she’s celebrating another beautiful chapter in motherhood, but because we returned to the exact spot where she and her husband said, “I do.” Talk about a full-circle moment. 🥹

This session was also a personal milestone—my first time receiving film scans back from the lab! And let me tell you, I’m obsessed. The grain, the tones, the nostalgic feel—it just hits different. 📸✨

I’ve included film shots along with two digital ones—one from this October’s shoot and another from our very first session together—so you can see the magic for yourself.

Swipe through and let me know: Are you team film or digital? 👀👇

“In the end, kids won’t remember that fancy toy or game you bought for them, but they will remember the time you spent together.” – Kevin Heath

This past summer, my family and I made memories we’ll cherish forever in Duck, NC. It was, without a doubt, the best vacation we’ve ever had.

What makes it even more special is how those moments live on in our home through the photos I took. My wife picked out the perfect frames, and now, every time I see those pictures of us together, it brings me right back to that incredible trip.

I’ll never forget waking up early for those breathtaking sunrises, especially the quiet mornings I shared with my daughter. Watching the world wake up together—it’s something I’ll treasure forever.

Here’s your reminder to make the time, capture the memories, and hold them close.

I figure I should have an about me somewhere here on the feed, so here it goes!

In case you don’t know, I am Drew Campbell. I’m originally from Northern VA, but went to Liberty and ended up staying in Lynchburg, VA. Over my years here, I’ve done a bunch of creative things and various jobs!

I’ve been a barista, welder, financial aid rep, a production manager, and now a photographer in the afternoons and weekends!

I’ve been doing photography for about 2-3 years now and Ive found I really enjoy taking photos for young families and young couples. It’s my creative outlet to work and build something that I can see develop and grow in real time! Since I was much smaller, I have always been curious about photography and I’m so glad I am able to do this now.

Some of my Favorites:
- Spending time with my family
- Drinking coffee/pouring latte art (really enjoy the mochas I make 🤌🏼)
- growing my lawn (the red clay here is brutal)
- learning new things (you might say I’m a renaissance man)
- taking photos of families
- long walks
- the occasional run (I want to do a half marathon this year)

What are some of your favorite things to do?

Ok! Got some more! Yesterday I had the amazing opportunity to shoot with two other awesome photographers in the Lynchburg area. I had a blast connecting with other photographers, which I really haven’t done before. I highly recommend it!

took these and I have to say, they are quite incredible! I don’t typically have my photo taken just due to the fact I’m usually taking the photo 💁🏼‍♂️

The first 5 are all from Maggie, even editted by here as well! The colors, the composition, the lighting, it’s all very much “on point”, “sharp”, or whatever other phrase that means amazing!

The next 5 all were captured and edited by yours truly. I think they came out quite nice!

Thank you again Maggie for capturing these awesome shots and doing the headshot swap :)
