After dropping Justin Franz at the airport, and telling him about this spot at CP Kenton with the mountain in the background on the way there, I was on my way home and got double lucky.
In the time that I had dropped him at the airport, a fresh crew had arrived and was preparing to depart North for Seattle. I saw headlights lit up in my rearview mirror and just how clear the day was and knew I had to pull over for the shot.
Little did I know that UP 6379, one of the last SP Speed Lettered C44ACs left in the system was in consist with a little dirt graffiti paying homage to the ol’Espee.
As the train departed CP Kenton I high tailed it down to Peninsula Junction for the broadside shot as the head end turned north to briefly join the BNSF Fallbridge Sub before heading north on the Seattle Sub.
