It’s becoming a tradition for me to take photos at the Free Fall 5k and I couldn’t be happier. Love shooting this race and supporting charity while doing it. And this year, it wasn’t nearly as cold.

As some of you may know, I have been volunteering with Second Chance Ranch Rescue NH for a year now. These are the pictures from my most recent visit to the ranch, which will be my last visit for a while since I am leaving for school in a couple weeks. Before I started volunteering at the ranch, I had been diagnosed with a debilitating chronic illness only a year after the passing of my mom. Needless to say, it was a very tough time for me. But I had also started following this philosophy I had seen online. It's pretty simple: do it scared. I reached out to the ranch to see if they needed a photographer and they did! I was super nervous to drive all the way to them (being sick had made driving very difficult) and to meet new people and dogs. I remember the first time I pulled up to the ranch I had that feeling you get when you know something important is about to happen. Through grief and illness, I had lost so much of myself. Every trip I took to the ranch, I came away with another piece of me restored and rebuilt. In many of the dogs I met, I saw fear and worry. I saw myself in them. These dogs showed me a path forward that I hadn't seen before. After my most recent visit, I was sad because I knew I wouldn't be coming back for a while. But I also felt a sense of satisfaction. Volunteering to help these dogs and this organization has allowed me to become a better version of myself. I've done so many things I never thought I could do and I've met so many great people.
We do not easily forget the things that make us feel independent and whole. The ranch is one of those places for me. So to the ranch, Kristen, other volunteers, and all the wonderful dogs: thank you.

❤️ 𝗕𝗮𝗻𝗲 ❤️

This boy is a love! He's a 90 lb Chonk who doesn't look 90 pounds. He's happy to be by your side, going for a hike, snuggling on a couch or giving you lots of kisses. He would probably be best as an only dog as he didn't like sharing food or toys in his last home, but it's possible that he'd dog ok with a really laid back female pup.

Please, please share him!
