Not gonna lie, COVID-19 dampened my family's livelihood a lot, but I am still thankful to be self-employed. Spent this afternoon with the fam at Devil's Lake and the surrounding areas to take photos for . Stay happy and stay safe everyone. 💚

👀 I spy, with my dSLR camera eye, an American Gold Finch (breeding male)! Photo taken on May 4, 2020 in my backyard using a Canon 5D Mark II and 75-300mm telephoto lens.

Special thanks 💛 to my husband for spotting the bird on our deck, and distracting our son so I can go !

Reposted from my friend Kyla. This is the alternative to having an house extension or a "she-shed" in the backyard. From reading the article, this dome is the place to be all year-round (even during the winter!). To be honest, while I'd also be into (glamorous camping), I just need a secondary office space for my Etsy shop. 💁🏻‍♀️

If you’re one of those people who can’t stand camping, then you’ve likely heard of the more glamorous alternative: “glamping”. Now, Amazon are letting us glamp in our own backyard as they are selling this geodesic garden dome, which will make the most gorgeous addition to our backyards. Th...

Another shot of the lake from the North Shore. I came at a good time because the ice allowed sounds to travel back and forth, and not only that, water still moves underneath, so you can hear and see the water spout from cracks within the ice. I felt like I was in a sci-fi movie. Pew! Pew! 👽

Today's view of the lake. There's still a thin layer of ice on the surface and if you visit this weekend, have a listen👂 : the sound echoes as it travels across the ice's surface!

Video coming shortly.

Panoramic shot today with my new iPhone 11! Yes, I brought my SLR too to get some more artistic shots in. Today was a little chilly at Devil's Lake but no snow yet snow, just ice 👀

on the North Shore! The lake has a thin layer of ice on top. Photo taken at 3:00pm today.

Not pie, huh? Well I'm in the baking mood and that cranberry tart looks unusual! 🍮

We held our Annual Membership Meeting over the weekend. Our special guest for the evening was Megan Makos, Outreach Director for Assist WI. https://www.assistwi.org/. Megan spoke about all of the wonderful ways they help individuals with disabilities and their families share the wonders of our special local venues such as our beautiful natural areas and water parks.

The meeting this year was held at the recently renovated Red Oak Shelter (South Shore), and catered by Broadway Diner. Our President, Dave Barger opened the event, followed by Park superintendent Steve Schmelzer who gave a report on park projects that occurred this year and what will be needed for next year going forward.

Two board members’ terms have ended (Dave Barger and Sandy Snow). We thank them both for their dedication and service to the Friends and to Devil’s Lake. Although we are sorry to see Dave and Sandy go as board members, we are excited to announce their replacements. Please welcome Kristen Holm and Kurt Goeckermann!

This was a test shot from yesterday's impromptu Fall photo session 🍂, but I really liked how the effect and starting composition turned out. Note: this is a work in progress as I continue to fix the lighting and subject.

Location: Ski Hi Fruit Farm 🍎 P.S. I brought home a gallon jug of apple cider and apple turnovers, and I'm coming back for more!

Sometimes it's difficult to dive into a project, but the results are amazing! My first fall project of the year so far has been painting my front door navy blue.

I used Frenchic Hornblower (Lazy Range) that I bought locally from Danielle of Vaillancourt Creates . Since this is an outdoor application, Danielle advised that I use the Frenchic Finishing Coat to protect the paint from the elements. I'm very happy how this turned out, and I'll be adding my fall wreath back to the door soon.
