Looking at my page insights, I noticed that 58% of my audience is male, with most of you falling between the ages of 25 and 54.
That got me looking into some statistics, and honestly, they were eye-opening. Men account for nearly 80% of all su***de deaths in the United States, and the age groups that make up most of my audience are among those most affected.
I’ll be honest, life isn’t always easy. We all have things we deal with behind the scenes. Stress, relationships, work, finances, family issues, loss, and sometimes just trying to keep our heads above water. Social media usually only shows the highlights.
I know this page is mostly about racing and photography, but at the end of the day we’re all people first. We’re racers, parents, spouses, friends, crew members, photographers, and fans. Sometimes the strongest looking person in the pits is carrying the heaviest load.
So today, check on someone. Send a text. Make a phone call. Ask how they’re doing and actually listen to the answer.
My door will always be open. If you’re struggling, need someone to vent to, or just need somebody to listen, don’t hesitate to reach out. My number is on this page, call me or send me a text. I may not have all the answers, but I’ll listen to your story.
If you see me at the track, stop me. I’ll always value a person over taking photos, especially when someone needs it. A photo can wait. A race can wait. You can’t always wait to check on someone who’s struggling.
The racing community is a family, and nobody should feel like they have to carry their struggles alone.
You are never as alone as you think you are.
If you or someone you know is in immediate danger or having thoughts of su***de, call or text 988 immediately. Help is available 24/7.
