Chavon, Vonnie, Von Lee, Von the Don, Vondella (all the women inside me lol )…you’ve (we’ve) done an amazing job in traversing this here life. I’m proud of you. In this year alone, you’ve learned that you could lose it all and still be ok bc of God’s grace. While you got you, you also learned there’s a tribe of people loving you and reminding you just how special and important you are to the world.

May we never forget, ever again, that you are THAT GIRL!! That you you are magic in human form. That you are love.

Mama Bernie aka Bern is no longer with us. On one hand it all feels crazy and surreal...yet on the other, I’m so thankful for her and all that she shared with me, that even in death, it all feels like a gift. We have another ancestor to hold us down in ways we can only dream for. I think about how supercharged Montier will feel with the power of her Grandmother and now Mother conspiring in her favor. WE lost a dear friend and brother this last week. There is something about losing a chosen family member that breaks your heart differently. I wasn’t prepared and I took this extremely hard! Emotional fatigue is real.
I will miss our banter! dancing, singing and acting like we were in a marching band lol he would yell “NUMBA ONNNEEE” and we would start with the high knees! 😂 My first plane ride ever was to Atl to see Aaron graduate college. His number in my phone is still “My Georgia Peach”. It was Aaron who brought me into the “family”. He introduced me to all these beautiful people that I know. I’m so thankful for that!
I woke up the day after Aaron passed away singing Jennifer Hudson’s version of I Am Changing, from Dreamgirls. I mean that song was heavy on my heart and then I remembered that WE LOVED IT! The whole movie, top to bottom was our s**t!! It reminded me of a time we went to pride and did an impromptu performance of the whole movie, on the grass, in the park, in front of friends and whoever was watching. So carefree. So now, I gotta go do broadway and be a dream girl bc dreams do come true and lives can be lived especially grand for those we lose! I believe in his own way, he spoke to me with that song.
