Pride has always been about more than visibility.

It’s about joy and love and struggle and tears and community and all of these gorgeous things that make us, us. It’s about every q***r person who came before us and made it possible for us to exist a little more freely than they could. And it’s about every person still fighting to be fully seen, fully celebrated, and fully safe.

“Wedding photography really stretches the skills and the imagination of the photographer. A series of pictures has to tell the story of the wedding day from beginning to end, and the challenge is switching from one style of photography to another.”

There’s been a massive discourse online right now about pricing for wedding vendors across the board but I’m here to talk about photography.

Why do wedding photographers charge what they do?

First, photography is a luxury service and is available at different tiers (much like any other luxury service). Finding someone who not only aligns within your tier but also your personality, vision, actions, etc is crucial to how your day will come across.

Second, as the above quote states, our job is to tell the story of your day and freeze it in time. Our job is to deliver the tangible memory of that day. In order to do that effectively, we have to split our brain into 3 separate pieces: formal, casual, and photo journalistic. Our brains constantly shifting between this severance is what produces the perfectly balanced gallery.

And third, once the curated playlist is over, the drapery is packed away, the outfits are steamed and hung in their garment bags, and the dance floor goes silent, that’s when we really get to work. We spend countless hours curating your gallery to tell the story of this day in a way that feel like reliving it over and over again. And that’s the best part.
