Can you spot the difference between these two ambassador wolves? Rowan has a mostly brown tail while his littermate Cedar has more black and tan markings! This may change as they shed out their pup undercoat this spring. For more, check out our Meet Our Wolves page here: 🐺 https://wolf.org/meet-our-wolves/

✨🐺Lobo Week Timeline: 1980🐺✨

This year, for Lobo Week, we will be sharing a brief timeline of the history of the Mexican gray wolf, or “lobo.” To kick things off, we’ll start at a low point in the lobo’s history.

The year is 1980, and the Mexican gray wolf has officially been extirpated from the wild, primarily due to hunting and trapping. At this time, many people still believed wolves were a danger to humans, and wildlife advocates had a long journey ahead in educating the public about why wolves are actually vital to the ecosystem and pose no threat to human safety.

Have you seen the viral post about a Chihuahua joining a wolf pack in Ely, Minnesota? Some people have reached out to ask us if this was FACT OR S**T, and we are here to tell you it is a load of s**t! The original image was ripped from a Voyaguers Wolf Project video, and the Chihuahua was added to accompany the creative story they wrote. They should have saved this for April Fool's Day!

Here's a link to an article that fact-checked the story:

Wolves are known for their remarkable adaptability and hunting skills. While they are primarily recognized for hunting larger prey, such as deer and elk, wolves will also opportunistically pursue smaller animals when the opportunity arises. A fallen log, for instance, can serve as an ideal spot for ambushing or discovering these smaller animals.
